What kind of lights are you guys using for backing up? I drive a tri axle dump(straight truck) and have lights mounted to the top step on my fuel tanks(both sides) and they work well, but could use something better.

Just looking for some ideas of some tough but small lights that you guys have run in the past!

    I use my 4-way flashers.

But, I am OTR and that is the best I can do.

Maybe you could mount a 100W wide angle high, pointing low towards the back of your rig?

Having the same rig each day would make it easier - not having to re-install it each day.

Well when i was dumping drove a tandem and i put a police style light on the cab of my truck facing the rear. I also installed a light under the box where the brake lights are due to the fact that i did a lot of night work. Just some ideas for you?

I thought about putting two floodlamps on each side and wiring them into the worklight circuit. Be great for a high beam flash when you pass some knucklehead who can't tell that blue light on the dash is on.

When I had my own rigs, I had two white lites installed in the rear bumper of the trailer. Activated with the backup circuit of the truck.
Now I installed a single headlight in the center rear of my tractor that shines under the trailer. Again, works off the backup circuit.
Works OK, but not as good as if they're on the trailer.

I ALWAYS install a set of wide angle lites on my lower step as well as the set up high on the bunk. This allows me to see what my trailer tires are doing as well as providing good lighting for chaining up( god forbid)
I usually use a good quality high beam as my lower lite. I can be jackknifed and still see the ### end of my trailer
