I see a few loads going into AK on the boards - and NOTHING coming back out.

My brothers neighbor is a Wal-Mart driver, does a dedicated up & back - but he's on the company dime.

isn't a dollar per mile better then NOTHING per mile.

if i'm going home. i'd like to at least have my fuel paid for. rather then coming out of my pocket.

you guys with aerodynamic freightliners spend less then us guys with not so aerodynamic kenworths.

 

Fayetteville, NC to Tacoma, WA. But this is for household and back when militaries where paying 300 percent in the region, and fuel was still in the $1 range. Did it a couple times, Since I could take a load from Tacoma to Fayettesville, And race back to take anouther one. And make more money then if I would have spent the time loading in NC to go back to WA.

 

So,you would be happy to get 75 cents?

 

As to the original question, Carlisle, PA to Portland, OR, then to Tooele, UT.

 

No because at a $1 per mile it will cost me more than if i just run empty. Figure miles to get to load, less mpg loaded, time waiting to load and unload plus its cheap freight plain and simple and i will not haul it.

 

Depending on circumstances, I might then I might not. I don't calculate each load on it's own. All loads, from when I leave home, until I get home, are calculated together. That buck five cheapy load may well make a nickle a mile higher profit in my whole round, and has.

 

Exactly.... paying some shipper to haul their cheap $1 a mile garbage would have tied your truck up away from the good freight and cost you more money than deadheading Some guys will never get that..
