I agree that Pilot has the best coffee, hands down. Lately though I've been really impressed with Love's here in the West. My personal peeve though is the Hook in Bakersfield (anyone ever go in that nightmare?) and if I can ever find a place besides that awful "Bruce's" between Tehachapi and Fresno to fuel and that has clean showers that's where I'll go, I don't care if it costs a few cents more for fuel.

well, I knew lately that TA's had been cleaning up a bit. Dunno if they took some of Petro's practices in the buyout (HOPEFULLY they did)
A T/A-Petro that gets Cleaner can only mean 1 thing. Pilot and Flying J follow suit or y'all gonna stop stoppin there. -
I just read somewhere that TA has earmarked a large chunk of money (millions, if I recall) to redo and upgrade most of their locations.
What all will be involved, I don't know. But it would be nice to see them clean up their places. -
I have become weary of waiting whilst one, or two, clerks try to wait on 10-12 diesel fuel customers, plus that many gasoline customers who also want to purchase drinks, beer, chips, and lotto tickets. I may gag if I eat another Arby's, McDs, or Subway.
I fuel at Pilot all the time and use the fuel and go option. You simply type in your truck number on the little touch screen computer inside the truckstop then hit print receipt and go. No standing in line unless you want to buy something else or want a cash advance. -
Why are Pilot and Love's just like going into the same place? Do they share ownership?
I hate Loves just as much as Pilot. Gimmie a Flyin hook or a T/A anytime. Better food, bigger parking, more fuel lanes, bigger outfit all around. -
yeah tell me about Pilot , we use ONLY
Pilot for fueling up
no where else , no petro , no TA
-
We fuel mostly at Pilots (they give us a 6 cents rebate) or Flying J's when their prices are lowest. We also use the Pilot fuel and go option which is a real timesaver. I find that Pilot's have some of the best 'munchies' in their store and my co-driver loves their coffee. However, I agree with most of the other assessments of Pilots -- cramped parking, overworked fuel clerks etc... But, most of the TA's and Petro's are hit and miss as far as being nasty. I hope they do clean up their act since I would prefer to stop at any other place than TA or Petro. But, as with anything, there are exceptions to the rule and you can find nice or nasty truck stops anywhere.

ok i havent' been in this business but a month or so but i have noticed that all the pilots are more 4-wheeler orientated than they are to the truckers. some are worse than others. i haven't had a problem out of the showers though and i will agree, the petros are more trucker orientated than the rest. this is just my $0.02

Yup... That made life tolerable when I used COMDATA. Card reader at the pump, receipt kiosk inside, wham-bam, out the door. I never had to deal with a fuel clerk.
Unfortunately, my current employer uses VISA for everything. Now I have to wait in line and deal with the clerk to get the pump turned on. When I'm done fueling it's back in line, waiting on a receipt that has to be signed.
It's probably more my employers fault (using VISA) than it is Pilot's faulty ways, but that still don't make it any easier on me. Petro makes it easier on me.
