Wired headsets

Ok, I am sick of Blue tooth wireless headsets. Having to charge them, having to monitor charging to not cook the battery. Having them die in the middle of a convo. Having my phone battery quickly depleted when paired to a blue tooth.

My phones battery quickly goes dead if I leave the headset paired and enabled. I hate having to turn the headset off every time to keep from killing its and the phones battery in less then a day.

Phone batteries and headset batteries can only handle so many charge cycles. It doesn't matter what the battery type is. Nicad, NiMh, Lipo, Lith ion.

Oh and no it doesn't matter if you fully deplete the battery unless the batteries are Nicads. The other batteries do not develop a memory like a Nicad does. Actually Lipo (lithium Polamar) and Lithium Ion batteries will go bad if you completely deplete them.

Although I love the Blue Parrot headset. Been running one for YEARS. Mine finally died. Battery is toast and when I opened it up to find another battery a resistor broke off the board and a really thin wire for the ear peice broke. I am not worth the time to fix it due to its age.

I want to go back to a good wired headset that is similar to the blue parrot in function etc. Same noise cancelling abilities, Volume control for the ear peice, same over the head style fit and flexible boom.

    Options???????

the cheap lil $14.00 one at the TS worked well for me as long as it didn't get tangled up in the streering wheel :) But I charge my blue parrot on my sleep break and plug in my phone when it starts losing a bar so far no issues

I use a BlueAnt 2 BT earpiece. It has its own dedicated on-off switch, so you dont have to keep them "paired" and on. It reconnects as soon as you turn it back on, in about 5 seconds. Being that i only turn it on when im taking a call, the battery lasts for a long time. Bought it at a Verizon store.

I think these Bluetooth devices have technology built in so they stop charging once they are fully charged. Once they drop to 90% they recharge again. Im not 100% positive if BT uses it, sorry if im wrong.

One problem is if you leave the BlueAnt on, and you take your phone too far away from it, it loses connection, and wont reconnect unless you turn the BlueAnt off and back on, or manually reconnect with the phone. Not a problem since i leave my BlueAnt off unless im using it.

Batteries last for a long time. Id say 2 years minimum. By then id be getting the next model anyway.

I tried a Plantronics Explorer (awful), a BlueParrot earpiece/headset combo (decent), and my current is BlueAnt 2, which is my favorite so far.

If it litterally goes inside my ear or hangs on my ear then it is completely out. They are uncomfortable as all get out and a pain to put on when you have a call coming in.

Also without a boom style mic, I hate to tell you, but the person on the other end is more then likely having a tough time trying to understand you.

I have been on the receiving end of calls from people using these things. Jawbone, Blue ant etc and I can't hardly understand what they are saying.

The thing about the Blue Parrot is people say it sounds better then if you are holding onto the phone and not using it. I always got people saying it was better when I was using my blue parrot over not using anything.

One thing I always hated about the blue parrot was that you could not use it while charging.

I always had to unplug it then wait for it to pair up. Most times people would just hang up or the phone would go to voice mail before it would finally pair up once unplugged.

I am not one to jibber jabber on the phone all day long. All convos are short and sweet. Usually just talking to the boss, Yes sir, No Sir OK then hang up and get back to the task at hand which is driving the truck.

well to me it is like trip planning i chg the phone and parrot when I am sleeping . In a truck I find there is always one more thing to do b4 i go to bed. There will be uncompleted tasks when I die. But charging my parrot isn't on my bucket list

    Same, short and sweet.

Bought a cheap pair of those ear buds with the mic on one wire.

Noise cancel works good..wife says its clear as a bell with no background noise.

Only thing I don't like is when I talk I can't hear it in the earpieces..usually just stick one with the mic in for what little I use it so no big deal.

Well the new parrots must be alot better because the stand by time on the old parrot was not all that great and talk time was not all that great. Not to mention that the battery on the phone itself drained much quicker when the headset was on and enabled.

With out the headset "connected" the phone would go days before needing charging, with the headset enables of connected the battery would be drained in a day or less.

It is what it is. I am not looking for another BT headset. I just need a good inexpensive NC wired over the head boom style headset. Since I have not used wired headsets in years, I am not sure if there are better ones out there now days.
