Trying to find out about Oilfield trucking!

Realistically what's the money looking like with those 2 companies and isn't power fuels paid by the load or percentage?

 

I just talked to power fuels guy yesterday, 5 on 2 off, 12 hour shifts & he told me he was making ~$40/hr ~$4k gross bi-weekly. That is pretty good considering all they haul is production water.

Not necessarily true, though. As a new driver you'll make 18% of the truck's gross. Billing 12 hours a day at $140 an hour, that earns the driver $25.20 an hour, 60 hours in five days, followed by one, two or three days off. After your probationary period, you'll make 19%, followed by a 1% increase per year.

Power Fuels is also increasingly requiring their drivers to swap out on location, at $15 an hour. Meaning you'll spend two to four hours a day riding a bus, on top of your 12 hour shift. Not hard work, but it puts you over your 14. It's not unusual to report to work at 6, and not get back to the yard until 8 or 9 that night (or morning if working nights)

Like I said, it's not hard work riding a bus, but you'll be making almost half pay for that time, which can be hard to swallow when it eats up all your free time during the work week.

It's still not a bad job, but Power Fuels ain't the trucker's paradise it bills itself as.

 

Most companies up here (ND) pay by the hr..alot of the subcontractors still pay percentage and it's anywhere from 20% to 27% percent of the billable load..Fresh Water-Pruduction Water-Oil each pay differant..Some of the main hualers in my area are: Power Fuels-Missouri Basin-Ham & Phillips-Key Energy-Jerrico(sp)-Black Hills-Falco...Now there are tons of subs here..some companies pay hire on bonuses some pay quarterly bonuses some pay over time after 40 some provide housing some free some cost..my advise to someone who is trying to relocate here is to BRING YOUR OWN HOME..Bring enough supplies(unfridgerated food) to keep you goin for 2 weeks..if your comming for a driving job it can take up to 2 weeks for the company to get all info needed on you to hire you..be prepared to maybe take a lesser job( basic every day job) until you get hired on for what you want shoot McDonalds I think is paying $15.00 an hr..our smaller costomer service based employers are having a hard time finding workers because most of us work in the oil field so there's lots of work in other fields here..the more endorcments and clean record you have the better your chances are..ND isn't hurt'n for drivers as bad as it was a year ago and bigger companies can be pickier and insurence companies are cracking down on requirements and DOT has trippled since I came here 2 yrs ago..things have changed and you do have to dress to impress for the bigger companies now we may be truck drivers but our apperence is being scrutinized ALOT now FR requierments have no wiggle room facial hair for men is very strict jewelry is not allowed and any of these violated can get you thrown off site either for the day or permenently

 

Is there any truth in the powerfuels wages posted above? How is powerfuels realistically from somebody who is actually working there or worked there. What other companies pay good great money AND PROVIDE HOUSING? Key energy will reimburse for relocation etc

 

Alot has changed with PF in the past 2 yrs..I was with them til dec of last year..Power Fuels in itself is a good company and in my opinion(and that can fit in a thimble) there is no real managment skills and I'm sure it's because the company is growing sooooo fast that cart is before the horse...consistancy in rules and regulations is spotty and really depends on well to put it nicely "Who you schmooz"..they do give quarterly bonuses but pretty sure their trying to illiminate that because now they have soooo many employees it's costing alot more money and the guys who are up to 4% on their bonuses which could amount to $3000.00 to $4000.00 are losing most if not all for just missing 1 safety meeting yet the schmoozers can damage rigs don't seem to have their bonuses affected..basically what I'm saying is alot of Polotics alot of High School alot of lack of communication and alot of no consistancy but it is what it is and sadly alot of companies here have the same problem so my advice to anyone comming here for a Job just remember why you came here "FOR THE JOB" and if the checks cash ignore the rest and do your job and take care of you :} Focus on the Pot of Gold ;}

That post doesn't really sound that good. Moving along, why did you leave powerfuels and what was your pay looking like?
