There is no difference between 11 or 48. Except 48 there is lot of dock waiting time loading/unloading. 11 is mostley drop and hook (at least 80%).

I have done both and the miles are the same.

Also, I do I-5 in the winter months (I don't Chain) and still got the same miles... I have been with May almost 4 years.

How do you work for May for 4 years and refuse to chain? If I refused I'd have been out of a job this past winter for sure. I had to chain 6 times in one 7 day period. If I hadn't, the loads would have been late.

Company Chaining Policy is NOT the same as the LAW. The LAW is on YOUR side if you don't want to chain to be SAFE. If you get fired for NOT chaining, you would own the company in a few years after the Court Battle.

I chained my first year. After seeing trucks on their sides, drivers loosing their careers or their lives made me realize only a Moron chains!

I don't chain cause the LAW says I can't be forced to chain in the name of SAFETY.

Now, I will be ordering "Tire Socks" before the next Winter and with those on the tires, I will have no problem driving in the snow/ice (They are used in Europe, they don't use Chains).

If it says chain I ain't driving. It's not worth the risk, I have drove of snow before but not enough to consider chaining at all. I live in the south no snow , no experience.

I have chained three times in three years. First time was over cabbage pass and it had chain law for three straight days, before I went over, and another two after that. So you would sit 5 days to not chain for 25 miles on top, even though the big hills were clear?

Do you think they care if I sit waiting for a load for five days?

You're right, they make money while you sit..
It's TOTALLY in THEIR best interest if you sit still and don't roll. That's how they make all their money...they figured out a secret formula that nobody else has...
