I wasn't eligible for unemployment when I went through training either. I lived off of savings and cashed in a small 401K. It sucks but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't make as much as in my last career but it's not far from it and the stress level is MUCH lower! I should have switched earlier!

I am pretty sure I would be in your same shoes given the circumstances. I am 24 and the last job I had was working manufacturing for the Honda plant in Indiana. Was layed off with a vehicle discount voucher, fled to Ohio to work again at the Honda plant here and was laid off again. I love to drive as well and haven't seen much of the country either. So here I am unemployed with my fingers crossed for Millis to take me. Are you going for the cdl training? If you are where were you thinking of attending? I know there is one in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Ohio.

 

Seems my story is kinda similar to yours Mspinner, I work as a cnc machinist now making about $47000 a year, my direct supervisor has changed 4 times in the last 3 months. The factory is SEVERELY micromanaged and I am ready for something new without someone standing over my shoulder b**ching every 10 minutes. I love to drive, although I have been to many places already I really think I am going to enjoy Millis. I am starting training in Trenton, OH June 11th. I cannot wait...
