I bought my first truck! It's got the DD60series 14 in it. I was looking under the hood and noticed no fuel visible in plastic housing. It has fuel in the tanks. Should I be seeing some fuel? Also, I don't see any other fuel filters or water separators? Where would they be?
DD60- Fuel filter questions?

Is there a fuel filter in the housing? If there is a filter in there, then you shouldn't worry as long as the rubber gasket is on the bottom of the filter. No, some times fuel will not be visible in the sight glass until the restriction level begins to rise. You should only use the Detroit Diesel filters which have a micron rating of 5 or 7 I believe, or Fleetguard part number FS 19624 with a 7 micron rating. The Davco 382 is a fuel filter and water separation system. Just follow the owners manual for guidance if you have any questions.

Yep, it is the DAVCO 382. Has an FS19727 element inside.
-
Close enough I guess, I think that's a 10 micron.
-
If you had the wrong micron rating for the filter, warranties could possibly be voided on the injectors. Just be advised.
-
Yeah, I called Davco. I'll put the correct filter in and call it good, Thanks.

there are several brands of filters that will work. donaldson is better than detroit. i.m.o. but o.e.m. is cheaper. I am not sure of the microns on each brand.
