well, if you're 31+ over the limit, it SHOULD be impounded.
Maybe Canadian trucks don't go 50 KM/H over whatever the speedlimit is up there. isn't the speed limit in Canada about 80 KM/H? -
I think it's 80 kph on the smaller routes, but the larger highways (four lanes and up) are posted at 100 kph (which is about 65 mph). But like here in the States, many times it moves faster.
Plus, I don't think many trucks are governed up there.
Hopefully, one of our Canadian members will step in and give us the facts. I could be out in left field. (Heaven knows I'm familiar with the turf there.... LOL)

I was on the Canada fleet for CFI until recently. 8 months worth. 100kph is the limit on the big roads. You do 65 mph and no one is going to bother you. On other main roads it could be 90 kph or 80 kph. Do 55 or 50 respectively, and same thing. You won't be bothered. Just be reasonable, why call attention to yourself. Usually the OPP doesn't pay attention to you unless you're 70 mph or above.

Good idea! Wish they'd do that here. Its sad to see so many young people dying from illegal racing. It's nothing to see two kids racing in traffic just to see who can be the biggest show off, and at night they race all over Lubbock.

Oh, yes, the fast and the furious syndrome. They do it here too! And the numbers keep piling up.

It's 110Km/h in most of NB, MB, SK and NS........about 68Mph, these are the provinces i have driven in, i don't know about the others except ON and PQ are 100Kmh

It's 110 km/hr in a lot of places in Canada now, which, as noted above, is 68 mph. A LOT of trucks are governed in Canada now, often at 105 km/hr. On a "secondary highway" (two-lane highway, not divided) the speed limit is usually 80 km/hr (50 mph).
Most divided highways are 110 or 100 km/hr.
So, to get your vehicle impounded, you'd have to be going 150 km/hr so yeah, I'm GLAD they're doing this. I drive fast in my car but NEVER over 120 km/hr (Don't want a ticket) and it's really not safe to drive over about 130 km/hr on a road made for 100 or 110. You come around a turn where there's an accident or something, you're screwed. If you're driving THAT fast, you should have this punishment, IMHO.
Heck, most speedometers only go to 140/160 km/hr!!! What's the fun in going that fast if you can't even see how fast you're going? LOL
Also, I've not seen ANY highways in EASTERN Canada that have a speed limit different for cars and trucks. I hope they never start doing that. To me, it's nuts. Sure, let's SLOW DOWN the trucks and IMPEDE traffic. Yeah, that's a GREAT idea!!! - NOT!!!!
