I don't know if this has been asked, but what companies deliver to all 48 states (yes, I know there are officially 50 states but you know what I mean)? If not all 48 states, how about the ones west of the Mississippi?

Almost all deliver to all states. However, most have "lanes" that they run which means they may not see some states much.

Cool cool. And what exactly are "lanes"?
-
Lanes are those roads which are usually traveled. For instance, I-40 may be a primary travel lane for one carrier and I-80 for another. Most have multiple travel lanes. If a carrier runs mostly the western states, then their primary travel lanes could be I-5, I-80, I-17, I-40, just to cite an example. Some could have their primary travel lanes as just being anything west of I-35. Some east coast carrier may have primary travel lanes as anything east of I-35, west of I-95, North of I-10, South of I-80. If you pick some of the trucking magazines at a truck stop carriers will often show their primary travel lanes or service area in their recruiting ads. Primary travel lanes doesn't mean that you don't deviate from those routes, it only means that those are the main roads that they travel to service customers.SurvivorDagobah Thanks this.
