Thank you so very much for the information! My husband is going into trucking and wants me to join him once he gets established. I don't know if I want to be a team driver yet, but it's getting more and more applealing as I do more reasearch. I love that you relate trucking to camping. That is the only thing I had it to relate too, and some people just looked at me like I was crazy! My husband and I will camp at weeks at a time and we love it! Thank you again for answering some of the questions I have. Your reply has really helped to calm my fears about this life style change. My husband brought me today to see a rig and look inside and I was so excited! I just know we can have a blast! Thanks again!![]()

I wish my wife was as motivated as you are, theweaselswench..... Lets us know how you and your husband are doing from time to time.
I wish you the best. -
So, how is it going? You and your wife teaming now? You asked in this post the same questions I am asking now, more towards the O/O side but teaming in general. I think I have all the info there is, the rest is just actuall experience.

Guess not.....LMBO!

We are husband and wife team since 2004. What can I say? At times, things can get heated. Better step out of the truck and walk a bit. Good thing we have 2 dogs with us, so she stays busy

It's workable and 2 paychecks is better than one. My wife has been pushing me for the past couple of years to become an owner operator and sign on with Landstar or to go independent. Sooner or later we are going to go that route.dieselUSMC and SheepDog Thank this. -
Hello Dave44, I know exactly what you are saying: yes, it does get heated in our truck from time to time but, that has been the case since before marriage, LOL. We will either stay together forever or not, in Gods hands. Anyway, I have been wanting to go O/O for a few years, done my homework and still, doing my homework. You will see "SheepDog" on here everywhere, just about, asking questions and what not. I have been looking at LS for a while. Some say team do good there and others say they don't. From my gatherings, teams don't have as many options as a solo O/O does. I still think a team could do better than a solo operation and that is because call's can be made while the truck is moving; one call's for next load while other drives kind of thing. I believe my wife and I can become a good team and make it work. I am still looking for any and all information pertaining to team O/O's though. We are currently saving to buy our first truck, cash,,,no lease purchase or loan. We will have the money 1st of next year.
We both wish you two the best out there....Dave44 Thanks this. -
I wish you guys the best. The more of us succeed, the better. I feel that solos can do a little better at Landstar, especially in the specialized freight/flatbed side of things, but on the other hand, you can be more selective with your loads and drive less.

We are independents and during the summer months or school breaks I team with my husband. It helps us to bank a little extra money. We have had blow ups where I admit I became a big baby and refused to come out of the sleeper, which made him have to shut the truck down when it was my turn to drive. And there have been times I've thought what the heck am I doing out here when I have a king size bed and my own shower and laundry facilities at home? But I must admit I do love the job and being on the road and being with him most days. We have 3 more years of high school with our youngest before I'm out on the road with him full time and I'm sure it will be bitter sweet.
Good luck in what ever decision you come to.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info sonbell.... I pray things get better for you and dont feel bad, this is a rough life sometimes. I am surprised my wife is doing so well but, very happy and don't think nothing of the times we have issues...LOL
You say you and your husband are IC's, thats great! I want more than anything to be free from being a company driver. We are with USXpress right now and doing well as company team drivers but, saving for our own truck which, we should be buying 1st quarter of next year and than, we will lease with USXpress for at least 6mo's. Till than, I am looking for the best deal for husband and wife teams... Be safe out there..and God Bless -
Not quite yet. Had some issues come up which have kept us pretty busy. Still working in that general direction haha. She sent me another job posting this morning. I just got my DOT recert yesterday for my current job and my left eye was 20/40, the bare minimum. I may have to look into lasik as the condition I have is not correctable with eyeglasses. Its a drawn out process but we are still researching. It doesnt help the process that everyday I day dream about it hahaha. But thats what you get when your father was long haul trucker for over 50 years...... man, I remember every trip I was ever on except the trip in which I was conceived in the sleeper outside of Cincinnati in 1980 hahaha. Its coming along, first line up the finances, fix the eye sight and then get some miles under my belt so I can keep it on a professional, courteous and purpose driven level as my father did for so long.SheepDog Thanks this.
