We were getting a lot of complaints from the Fond du lac area of WI, sometimes when the drivers were not even in the area. come to find out, it was the wife or mom of a former driver for the Co.

Trucking is a thankless job, always has been! I used to have fun trucking, nowadays, with all the new regulations and traffic, it just isn't fun anymore. It gets harder and harder to leave the house each time I have to.
Problem is, after 24 years of trucking, what else can I do to make a living making this kind of money? Believe me, if there was a viable option, I would take it in a heartbeat.

    gearjammer42 and Wiseguywireless Thank this.

I have had peeps and other truck drivers call in on me my company tells them.. That Im a professional driver and maybe they should take a look at there own driving and pay attention to how they drive rather then worry so much about what others are doing..

I even had a lady follow me into the FBI location I was picking up at so she could get the name off my truck. I seen what she was doing I walked over to her ask what her problem was she told me.. I said well hun you was at fault not me she said im calling your company anyway I said hold on got my phone called my work said this lady wants to complain about my driving tryed to hand her my phone said my boss will talk to you.. she wouln't take the phone LOL and she spead off never to be heard from..

people really need to mind there own business and realize sometimes peeps make a mistake or maybe didn't see you when they switched lanes.. But unfortunately some people hate there life and or are unhappy with themself so they go around trying to bring others down and make them just as miserable as they are...

Biscuit, in January of 2011 I felt just like you. Gave 2 weeks notice to a company I had been at for almost 17 years. Took a factory job, starting in feb. By Oct I was on TTF looking for job ideas. Was back out here before Christmas. Will see how it goes this time around. Take care, good luck, and watch the blood pressure. JK......

The sad part to all of this, is the 4 wheelers are always the ones at fault for most of the incidents out there. They cut us off, switch lanes without looking ( because they are too busy on the phone talking or texting) but yet when they have a close call, it's automatically the " TRUCKERS" fault. I've only been driving cdl for 7 months and have had some close calls, all due to other drivers error or should I say, STUPIDITY! They banned cell phone use by commercial truck drivers, it should be banned for ALL DRIVERS. If the call is that "IMPORTANT" pull the heck off the road somewhere and make the phone call/ text. People are getting killed each and every day, because some moron is too worried about their social life via cell phone, that they forgot they were behind the wheel. I'm sick and tired of it. There have been many times, in my personal vehicle, that I've almost been smashed into while driving my daughters around ( whom are 3 yrs old and one 19 months) because some dumb jerk was too busy on the phone. At that time, I wanted to get out of my vehicle take the phone off them, and shove it down there teeth, but figured that wouldn't set a good example for my kids, but it would have got my anger out for the moron whom almost hit me.. I feel your pain driver and I am knew to the commercial side of it all.. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Good luck! At least you know can always get a job somewhere driving if you need to make a quick buck. But probably a good age to explore other possibilities before it gets to be too late. Of course, it's never too late. But this economy does not make career changes any easier for older folk.
