Hauled double stacked once, used every board and strap I had plus tarps. Got it there but it wasn't pretty. A ridiculous amount of work but, could be because I didn't know how to secure it.

I saw two loads from the unnamed Roofing company head up the 15 yesterday.....Both had 36 pallets.....24 on the deck.....12 on top.....No vee-boards underneath the double stack section....Yep.....Those drivers will learn too.....:biggrin_2552:

When I hauled for Boyd Bros. they would not allow us to haul double stacked. They said that if the temp got above the upper 80's the bottom row would get so soft from the heat that it would give out.

We haul it out of phillipsburg, ks. Its has several wraps of plastic around it. Generaly 20 on the bottom and 13-14 up top.! 2 four inch straps up front, four inchers on the next two and then four inchers thru the bottom of the top stacks pallets. Tarpped down and essentialy the top layer is held on by gravity, but as long as your tarps are tight and all of your straps are tight. Take the corners slow, you'll have no problems, just time consuming to secure it good. As i was once told, if your unsure and you have straps and bungees left, theres not enough on the load.....

Strapping the pallets in bundles for example (strap 4 pallets together, around the material with a 2" strap like the one guy mentioned). Or throw a strap and v-boards over the bottom pallets on the deck so that they don't move...............remember straps are easier to roll up then explaining to highway patrol why your freight is all over the road.............
