I just applied on Swift's website today, and I was wondering from those that have gone this route before what the average turn around time on hearing back from them normally is. I need to go to school, so I don't know if that has a bearing on the timeline, but if anyone can provide an approximate length of time I'd appreciate it.

well it takes them some time until they can find somebody that can read--then your half way done--and hopefully this same person can write as well--makes the app go so much quicker

I applied one evening around 9pm then went to the grocery store right afterwards. Left my phone in the car while I went in and came back to a voicemail from a recruiter in Memphis. Called her back ASAP and had my orientation scheduled for 4 days later.

Getting a bit ahead of yourself if you are applying before you are even in a school.

And once you get in school they will have you apply at the companies that they are affiliated with.
    They will push them, too.

Best bet if you want to go with Swift?
Get in a school that Swift hires from, or go directly to Swift for your schooling.
(shame on me - I guess that is exactly what you are doing)

I was called within an hour. That was back in '07. And I had experience.

After I got out of school,i applied on-line and got a call back from recruiter within 15 minutes. Now I did pay for my own schooling(cdl)as I DID NOT want to be obligated to a certain carrier for a year or more just to pay them back.Understand I don't know your circumstances but a lot of this comes down to what you want and are willing to do to get it.There are quite a few fly by night schools out there that won't be classified as Accredited,so as in any life altering thing that you are going to do-----DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND RESEARCH this will help you so that you don't end up shooting yourself in the foot.
By the way I ended up going through a community college driver program in Austin,Tx.as they are generally less expensive than the big name schools but then again when you're done you must decide the best choices for you and yours.DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!! Just my opinion though from a new older guy

Living in Clearwater, Fl is strike one; you are way out of the hiring area. You may never hear back from a recruiter. However, be persistant and proactive. Let them hear from you.

I lived in San Antonio where there's a Swift Academy and on major freight routes. When I applied online I got a phone call within minutes, even before I could pull up my favorite porn site!

DenaliDad, where you been, what's going on with you???
