being a female driver. and tarping. won't be an easy thing. as those tarps are heavy. a lot of times you can get help but there are times when you will be the only person around.
as for female drivers. they are getting to be more and more every year. used to be a time when women drivers were rare. and drivers LOVED talking to a female driver. but today. they are more in abundance. and most trucks don't even have cb's anymore. becuase most of the drivers out there these days are rookies with less then a year experience. and for whatever reason just don't have a cb.
you'll be fine, being a rookie driver. i'd say the only problem you'll have will be dealing with the over the road trainer. as they like to yell a lot. AT ALL ROOKIES. get past that and it's all down hill from there.

I've been doing this since 2003,guys out here for the most part are respectful to women.Of course you'll run into a few bad apples but just weed em out.I get more guys look at me and say,you drive a semi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with a surprised look. They think it's great seeing women do this. The trucking industry needs more women.I am now a local driver with something like 25 day drivers and im the only woman day driver, lol. It does'nt matter if you're male or female,if you can do the job or want to take on a challenge I say go for it.
gb2nyc Thanks this. -
stopped at a truck stop to shower and do some laundry, that place had more female then male parked and rolling in an out, on another, the fuel island was nothing but females, I do see a few here and there, as well as them rolling by.. you're not alone

lilsister, tell us how its going and who you are driving for?
-
she may not feel that whom she drives for is a relevant point while it would be interesting to read just how things are going for her.

lilsis drivers are like any other group, good bad and ugly not implying looks. its a fine line between novice and hard ###. personaly male or female i had rather see the person admit they are not sure which way to proceed, and ask for advice, instead of acting like a hart a--. back in 89-90 i would try to run with bobby mcgee some. she would usuallly run off and leave me. i think that gal could go from la to nyc in 48 hrs. with time to spare. i have pulled flats most of the time since 89, and i still run in to things i will ask the customer or other truckers advice on tieing down.

oh that cb thing who wants to hear all the garbage that is on that box. we passed more information with hand signals thru the windshield in old days than you can get over a c b this day and time.

Dodgeman, as long as you have a concealed carry permit from your state and each state you are in. You can legally carry.
You must abide by the laws in the state you are currently in. Also some states insist that your gun be in a locked safe or cabinet when you are sleeping. DO NOT GO TO NYC with a hand gun!!!!!!! You will end up in jail.
