I used two 4 foot firesticks in the stock mounts with the tuning tips screwed out about an inch one each. With a Cobra 29 I have Swr reading of 2 on channel 1, 1.1 on channel 40 and 1.3 on channel 19. I knew there had to be something that worked without mounting antennas and running wires.
Finally found antennas that work on a cascadia

Some of the Casacadia's have great SWR readings in out fleet with factory antenna systems. They just don't talk more than about a mile.....good enough for some people. We have also found bad connections thru out the coax system on some trucks as well, enough of them that the coax is the first thing I would check out in a Cascadia and the reason so many run their own coax.

I could never understand why they insist on saving $5 and run the cheapest coax they can find instead of spending a few more dollars more and providing a reliable, quality coax path to the antennas. The TV "splitter" does not help either. If I was designing a fleet spec truck, I'd have a single well-tuned and situated antenna for the CB and a single antenna for the TV/FM.
When you try and save $5 in the cost of a $130,000 truck, it's just goofy.rollingradios and mike5511 Thank this. -
With factory antennas Swr was 3.5- 5

I have found a few Cascadias with good SWR with factory stuff, but most of them are like you said, over 3:1. One of our drivers is convinced the connector that screws on to the back of the radio is bad on all of them. He had his replaced with a regular PL 259 and has a good SWR now. Still can't get out very far though. Our shop has also found the coax not connected well in some of the junctions it goes thru. I think there are four junctions on the new trucks, used to be eight. What a joke!!
