Screw up your credit, then try to get another credit card...NOT. These companies are worldwide. don't mess up your credit rating you may need it later and these companies remember you. Once you have a red flag on your credit card companies, your toast.

I wouldn't say your toast as far as trying to get a credit card later, even from the same company. My friend claimed bankruptcy and wrote off more than $10,000 off of one card from capital one. He was amazed around two weeks after he filed. He gets multiple per-approved letters from capital one every week. Now as far as your credit score goes, good luck buying a car, house or anything else.

I'm not a lawyer, and don't pretend to be. I'm telling this story because it happened to a buddy of mine. He's American and lived in Boston. He had dept. So being young and stupid, he skipped town and headed north (many families in New England and the Maritimes are spread out between both countries) and stayed with family in Canada. Well, the bill collectors filed a claim against him in Mass court. 2 years later he heads back 'home' for a visit, or wedding, or something, and gets arrested at the border because he has a warrant now. Long story short, he not only has to settle this claim, BUT pay all the added expeneses of the claimant trying to have him served etc etc over international borders ..... or something along those lines. To sum it up, if you're planning on going to AB to run from something, think twice. Deal with it now or it likely will come back to bite your hind end.
