Hi all, introducing another new member. Been around the block a few times, but never in a big rig. Starting training next Tuesday with Central, and really appreciate all the info on this blog.

Welcome and good luck at Central. There's plenty of knowledgable people around here so feel free to ask away.

Welcome!
So today is the big day! How is it going?
Hopefully you are too busy to reply, for a few days at least.

Not quite yet. Local training for a week starts next Tuesday (after Memorial Day), then off to SLC like so many who have gone before...

Thanks. I get that Central is a training company, and after watching the local truck driving jobs posted in my home town that require experience on top of a CDL A, decided it's worth the aggravation to get both at the same time and place. If at the end of one year the situation is intolerable, there are more options at that time. I've worked for some real ###h0le3 over the years and lived to tell about it. You can't control what they do, you can only control your attitude. So my plan is to keep smiling, keep the shiny side up, and keep an eye on my 12 as much as possible. The end result is a fairly well paying recession-proof job, can't lose sight of that.

Good luck to you and welcome to the forum!

First day of classwork today, DOT medical, drug test, 3 videos, 3 tests and a pretrip inspection - we hit the ground running! But 4 of the 5 drivers didn't show up so it will be a 1-on-1 deal.
Next week will be at Central HQ in Salt Lake City. The company pays for a ride on Greyhound or will reimburse the price of the bus ticket if we choose to fly. The big dog charges $161 for the trip and I found a USAir ticket on Orbitz for $162.60. Hmmmm, tough choice... -
I am actually in the process of starting school to get my CDL...What companies will hire you if you have a 41/2 year old misdemeanor paraphernalia charge? I am in the process of having it set aside, but on October 11 of this year the record will be purged/sealed/destroyed. Anyone know any companies that may hire me? Why is it no one will reply to me...this is becoming such a huge head ache but I want to keep the faith and the my morales.
