There are many guys out there that are afraid to say no fearing the could lose their jobs by being replaced by someone who will do it, also fearing I guess getting crappy work if he doesn't tow the line. Here us Irish were notorious for not abiding by the rules, but when ever I got tired I would go to bed( a word unfamiliar to dispatchers ) and when questioned as to why I was late I would answer " I prefer to be the scania man that was late rather than the late scania man"
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Yup used to happen here too, not anymore! And that's the problem, these guys are bringing these rules on themselves, ruining it for everybody, once these rules are introduced it's a game you can't win!Click to expand...
Actually, it is a game you can win at. It is done everyday by many people and companies.Click to expand...Click to expand...Scania man Thanks this. -
I did not say you could drive beyond 11 hours, I stated clearly that you can work beyond 14 hours. Perhaps you would like to bone up on reading comprehension.shredfit1 said: ↑So I can 'drive' all 14... or when I start the clock am I limited to 11(work is work). I said mandated 'SPLIT'. So I could do a 6 + 4 split when needed?Click to expand...
Yes, you could do 6+4, nothing to stop you from doing that, it just doesn't count for anything as it doesn't meet the split sleeper rule. But, if that's what trips your trigger, go for it.Last edited: May 27, 2012

Autocar said: ↑Scania man said: ↑I fully agree with you! What I meant my" a game you can't win " is if like here these tacho's or e logs become mandatory it's just impossible to get ahead, the tacho stores any offences for a year so it's impossible to get away with them now, further more of we take a few days off we have to account for them by having an official letter in the cab stating your whereabouts, if they suspect you are lying they check ferry ports or any database that the driver or vehicle passes through, they've even gone as far as checking toll booths on the motorways to see if the vehicle passed through the network and if you're caught out it's a mandatory 3 months in prison in England or 2 years in belguim . That's the future folks! Every move you make under scrutiny, what I've found is once there's a few big accidents involving a tired trucker the health and safety nazis are waiting to dish out a few more rules.Autocar said: ↑The rules are always brought on by those that push the limits of common sense. Why do I even read threads of this topic? Really ticks me off. Elogs is a joke. I am going to have to drive all night, because my elogs says that's when I can start driving. I slept all night last nigh and even a nap this am, wouldn't it make more sense(safety wise ) for me to start driving as soon as I am loaded instead of waiting till 9pm tonight to start? What a joke. This is probaly going to be my last trip out with the company. Found a job close to home that runs paper and no governed trk. Gonna take a 4cpm pay cut, but to me its worth it to have my freedom back. Family owned small atmosphere. Can't wait. Uncle Sam is going to put a salary cap on me(by dictating my wrk week) and still have his hand out for 20+%. It all comes down to money. I am the captain Of my own ship. 5yrs of driving(still green) and this is the only job that I have completely run by the book. 0accidentd and 0out of services. It'd comes down to revenue, not safety. Good luck to all, and will the eobr cheerleaders plz die, and die quietly, I don't want to hear the lame excuses you have for loving em.

You should try being a commercial pilot. They are even more regulated in their work hours.win-some-loose-less said: ↑Why do I even read threads of this topic? Really ticks me off. Elogs is a joke. The regs don't limit my income, but then I'm not running for mileage rates, either. I figured that game out long, long ago. -
WELCOME TO MY WORLD! you are of course talking absolute sense! Before cab coolers that work with the engine off I remember having to try sleep in blazing sunshine, twisting and turning in the heat then to keep my tacho right I had to go down the road tired at night instead of driving during the day and sleeping at night when it's cool and when you're supposed to sleep! You're right, that's not safety!win-some-loose-less said: ↑Why do I even read threads of this topic? Really ticks me off. Elogs is a joke. A commercial pilot doesn't have as many regulations as we do! Sounds mad but it's actually true! And it's ridiculos !Autocar said: ↑You should try being a commercial pilot. They are even more regulated in their work hours.Click to expand...
