Wallboard mostly hauls the 95 corridor. They do haul alot of steel loafs also. You would always have a load home in wallboard friday though, esp in binghampton and would probably reload outta oswego ALOT

if new to driving or have limited exp you can expect to be out from 4 to 6 wks now. alot depends on YOU, how fast you pick up what you need to pick up to be a safe driver.
Yes you can earn more money going to Canada, that is with every company though, not just PGTT. it isn't big money though and to me not worth the pain in the ### hassle of border crossing.
PDI dont know why you say dont listen to us drivers at the terminals, i have never steered anyone wrong (intentionally and knowingly) be it on here or at the monaca terminal. i have helped alot of new drivers with their final test out on the trailers. have even taken over a few of the trailer training for lamont, jim and rob (now in alabama). Alot depends on you the driver and your own attitude. havent met any drivers that have a bad thing to say about the company. Except the disgruntled ones that were fired from the company for making bad choices in life ( unsafe securement bc they were in a hurry, causing a wreck, not keeping their trucks maintained). We all have or complaints of course, will find that in every occupation in the world. it is human nature. however our gripes mostly consist of time it takes to get a truck fixed, maybe the pay on a specific load, or how ###### a specific shipper or cosignee is. the hometime is there and the pay is good, so it outweighs what individual gripes one might have. do know for fact and from experience if you have an issue with dispatcher, pay check, truck, what ever, ONE phone call will get issues resolved. if having issue with dispatcher i do suggest attempting to talk to them and straighten it out, if you feel you are not getting anywhere then make the call.sw6g Thanks this. -

must not be very experienced in the general work industry.. as that applies to anywhere you work. though at 37 yrs old would think you had learned that life lesson a long time ago lol -
has been awhile since i posted here as i have been busy running my tail off.
I have been with PGT for lil over a year now, was amazed and shocked when i first went to their orientation at how much different it was from other companies out there. pretty much everything i was told was factual. this company really and truly cares about their drivers. the dispatchers are not treated like gods nor do they have all the power.
i run wall board division and am making money. i can be home every weekend if i want. if i have a question about something i know i can ask a fellow PGT driver and get a correct reply or i can make a phone call and will have an answer immediately. have no real complaints about this company, basically they are a good all around company to work for. i researched this and other companies out there for 6 mnths b4 i settled on PGT. it was not a mistake choosing PGT. they have done right by me, my family and most important my pay check lol. i for one will never go back to an all the time per mile pay scale. i will never drive a van again either. will drive a blasted dump truck before either happens. we do haul loads that pay by the mile, most are flat rate or by the hundred weight though.
Can anyone make money working for PGT. yeah you can make money here even o/o and i/c, but you have to want to work. if your lazy, don't like to run hard for 8 or 10 hrs a day, can't seem to keep that left hand side door closed.. then i highly recommend werner, swift, maverick, prime, usa truck (EWWWW) etc etc for your place of employment lol. have done some of the math for you per mile payscalers... 25% of the load (which is what all newbs with no experience start at) on average will yield .50 to .65 cents a mile and you don't have to run 3000+ miles a week. think the most miles i have ever ran in one week was 2600 that includes dead head miles.
orientation is mon to fri with friday usually being the day you get picked up by a trainer (if you have to go with one) room and board is supplied by the company as well as being paid to attend.
going out with a trainer: expect to be out 6 wks (recruiter will should tell you this) there are variables to this time though... you already have driving experience and know how to drive a truck safely and efficiently, you have a good can do i wanna learn attitude and pick up what you need to learn quickly ( how to PROPERLY secure a load and how to tarp it correctly) can shorten your time with a trainer. you are paid to be with the trainer, so you are getting a paycheck.
You do not need to bring gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, work vest with you to orientation (in case recruiter tells you you do; like mine did) bring at least 6 pair of jeans, maybe a cple pairs of shorts, a comfortable pair of shoes, dozen socks and drawers and at least a dozen t shirts or more, 3 long sleeve work shirts, individual toiletries, towel, shower shoes, laundry bag, sheet, blanket and a pillow. if you smoke/dip/chew bring some with you (if can at least enough to last 4 wks) it gets expensive at truck stops and finally try to bring 200$ with you for food on the road.
keep in mind you will be sleeping in the truck when you go out with a trainer.. THEY DO NOT HAVE UNLIMITED SPACE. 6 bags plus bedding will fit, but you will be dang uncomfortable sleeping with it all in the bunk with you. i bought a 26" suitcase on wheel at wal mart and had a back pack i took with me. i folded a sheet inside the blanket and then rolled everything up, my suitcase had bungee cord webbing on top and everything fit nicely in the webbing on top of luggage. i had room inside luggage to take my cb, gps, and carrier map book. in back pack i had drinks and snacks for the ride on the dog. my old log book holder, portable dvd player (which held half dozen movies). pack smart you can fit alot of crap in just one medium bag and a backpack
think i have covered everything i can think of between this post and some of my other answers.Boes31 Thanks this. -

I talked to a recruiter today told me to wait on the application due to in my refresher class. I am 10 year prior military and the recruiter (Phil) loved it when I said that. I have been looking at a total of 3 companies "Ficel---out of Buffalo, NY mainly because my brother drives for them" also looking at "Maverick" and also looking at "PGT" I am located just north of Detroit, MI and was told that I would possibly have runs into and out of Canada.
After reading all the reviews on PGT the company sure has caught my eye and alot of interest. Do have a few questions though. What type of truck do you get when you get out of training? And on average what is the pay? Home time isn't all that important to me just as long as it is atleast every other week.
I don't want to put my application out to so many companies and then have to decide what one to go to but it sorta is coming down to me doing that.
