How does detention time normally work for a flatbed? I realize that these things can be broker/shipper specific but I am looking for the norm.

If a shipper pays for detention after two hours, does the clock stop after loading or after strapping and tarping?

Normally after loading. I'm slow and can take me twice as long as some others to get rolling.

I'll echo BBB, once the last piece is on the trailer, you're loaded. Strapping & tarping is on your time. Biggest problem is getting detention time paid at all. Company I was leased to until last Friday would always promise to get you detention time up until the load was delivered and then ..... somehow forgot about it. Just one of the reasons I left.
