Alberta oilfield driving jobs

If you want lots of hours year round, fluid haul is one good option. Lots of guys in other positions are short on work at the moment, but I've worked 46 hours in the last 3 days - and slept in my own bed every night. The down side is, lots of hours year round lol, holidays still need fluid hauled.

I also notice there are usually lots of jobs driving a vacuum truck. I imagine thats a pretty dirty job but as a green hand I don't mind.
The only concern I would have operating a vacuum truck is whether these are carcinagenic fluids and how dangerous are they if exposed?

Can anyone provide any insight regarding the danger or long term effects of working on a vacuum truck sucking up all those toxic fluids?

 

lol you wont be getting near 5 grand starting salary. That is an experienced hands wage. greenhands start from 2500-3400 depending. To the two bickering.. trican DOES lowball its Estevan employees as the average plain nothing fancy house costs upwards of 300 grand and the wages they start at does not even get in the ballpark of being able to afford that. Bottomdweller is not accurate though lol that was a clear personal attack. They are on par with every other service company

 

I would disagree there, most calfrac, sanjel, site, and formula Powell frac crews are over 30 for estevan and area.
And bottomdweller is not personal- I never aimed it at Bobbyt or an individual. They are coming into the area looking to get bakken field work and are bidding very low. Not making friends that way but neither did haliburton when they did the same. Haliburton didn't end up with much and neither did enterprise although both are still around a little bit.

If it seems to insulting to trican I would add that while suckerfish are bottom dwellers so are halibut... Where you eat doesn't indicate where you live on the food chain!

 

Formula Powell has frac crews ? And they are over 30 what ?

 

Fp does not have a frac division but they do haul the sand, water, frac tanks matting and equipment for the job here in estevan. Companies like trican and calfrac do this in house but many others subcontract it out

 

Nabors has a frac shop going here in Red Deer, the contracts are fairly nice for an experienced hand. For a horsepower its 45k plus max bonus is at 645 i believe.. i guess contract depends on experience, but they just opened and are pilfering guys from other shops.

I actually joined on behalf of my husband. He's a long-haul, owner/operator based out of Ontario with over 20 years experience running Canada and the US. He has his AZ licence, clean abstract, with mountain and chaining up experience plus he is a licenced truck/trailer mechanic (310J) who worked mobile emergency service in all temperatures for about 8 years.

He wants to sell his truck and head out west to work. I stumbled across this blog on my search for companies for him to apply to. Thanks for all the great information. I've e-mailed his resume out to Trican, Sanjel, Canyon, Pioneer, to start, and he has been following up with phone calls. The biggest road block so far is getting the right person to speak with. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The only bite he's had so is from the Talent Group for a fly in fly out position.... no idea who they are hiring for at this point. Does anyone have experience with the fly in fly out jobs?

I keep hearing that they are crying out for drivers to work in the oilfields so I would have though he would have had better response. He has a well presented resume and loads of experience!

 

I am interested also in offering my services to Albertan trucking companies. I need the money.. Hey.. who doesn't?

But here's my issue. Frac this... Frac that... ? Fracking seems to be something that we should be maybe worried about as Canadians.
Actually not just as Canadians but as people. Have any of you thought about what this fracking process might be doing to Canada's environment and if you have do you care?

I know we all want to work and we all want to make money and we all have mortgages etc to pay off but is anyone else here a little uneasy about what our contribution to this industry is doing?
