I wouldn't think it would take much of a crop to pass last year's yields. Maybe it was better around Hutch. I know they really struggled down around Harper Co.

Wheat is very, very, good in Harper County! After cutting the worst wheat crop of my life last year, I have the potential to harvest the best wheat crop of my life this year! Yields are out there, just getting nervous to get it all in the elevator before a weather event dampers our enthusiasm. I would take the rain, its the hail that has me nervous! I am hauling wheat into the elevator from my field, my son is hauling wheat out of the elevator, commercially. Not enough trucks to get it moved out. CoMark didnt get enough trucks lined up, but heard they had 200 trucks lined up prior to harvest. But if you figure the amount of all the elevators that are in their marketing system, it figures out to about "2" trucks hauling out at each of their elevators. Local manager said they were secretly hoping for rain today and tomorrow, to get wheat moved out and get ahead a bit.(lol) Looks like a good few weeks of hauling for you guys on your end. Drive safe, and watch us crazy farmers who always seem to be in a hurry to get their crop into the elevators! :) FYI our yields have been from 49-65 bu, and we are not the exception!

We seem to be short on trucks too. They kept pulling me from one elevator to another. Tired today not used to running that many miles.

Had a storm over inch of rain. That will stop harvest for a few days. The out of state truckers will transfer from elevators instead of hauling for farmers...means not much work for us for a few days.

Rained us out of the field about 30 minutes ago, still raining. I don't mind the rain, as it seems as if the hail didnt materialize. My son is stuck in line at Schulers over at Wellington, I told him just sit tight, the storm is moving through pretty fast. If you dont mind the 70 mile deadhead from Hutch to my area, I know they will be hauling hot and heavy out of the local elevators to clear some space.

That's crazy that your grain merchandisers give the out of state trucks priority and park you guys that are right there hauling for them year round. I would think they are there to handle excess capacity? At least the rain will be good for the fall crops, folks around here would seriously consider giving an arm or a leg for an inch of rain right now. :biggrin_25513: We got about .2" the other day, and the crops look good so far, but things are seriously dry.

The out of staters are guaranteed so much money each day...so they want to put them to work rather than pay them to sit.

They do it here also, lot of trucks from Kansas and Missouri down here working for ADM and they are the cheapest to work for, we compared rates and they are the same. I worked for them two days and drug up when I was doing a shuttle from elevator to mill and they would not let me leave grossing 81k. Their policy is nothing over 80k but you can haul in their weighing 100k and they take you. I complained because I had to go out and turn around and come back in and wait in line with the other trucks to dump 1k. He asked me if I had any other problems in a smart axx way and I said yes I do I am going to dump the whole load and you can haul it over their in your pickup for all I care. Whats funny is everyone except three trucks that haul for these guys year round up and quit just before harvest because up the rates andtheir attitudes. The main boss was complaing they can't get enough wheat delivered to the mill, but they have one guy that starts around 10am and goes home at 3, another that starts early but goes home around 2 because he has to start a new bottle. I will park it before I haul another load for ADM.

One elevator company here said they had 140 trucks lined up for harvest and guess what only 10 of the out of state trucks showed up for them. Everyone is needing trucks and still are with over 40% of the wheat still needing harvested. A lot of the Harvesters have left for Kansas and trucks are moving that way also. It is going to be plenty to haul and good rates so far but they will drop some time always do. What I have found out all these grain merchandisers/brokers are all the same, can't believe a word they say. lol Well I am on my way to the DR. and then back to hauling grain.
