Well, our first conversation about the progress included a discussion about being proactive and taking charge of the truck when Fred is driving. On his leg coming out of SF headed to Laredo he hopped into the seat, started driving without checking his log, and followed the GPS, which took him off I5 and the back way around the San Bernadino mountains (through Palmdale) Cost us 2.5 hours, as he ran out of hours on his 8/2 split and ddn't understand why. Lessons learned the hard way are sometimes the best lessons learned. He now understands the 8/2 split and its uses, as well as the importance of log management and route planning, even if it is just for his leg of the trip. Today we talked about revenue and the expense ledger, and how he should start shadowing my bookkeeping. Definitely good traning last night and today, even if it did cost me a few hours sleep.
In his grace, he did find a donut shop and possibly the best #### donuts I have ever tasted, which ALMOST made up for the missteps he made.... almost
