getting close to running my own truck. Trying to figure expenses.

These are the numbers I came up with.

My "salary" is based on the fact I don't pay myself anymore than what I need to cover my bills.

 

Don't get in a big hurry to pay the truck off, money in the bank is better. You can save it up and pay it off all at once or use it for a trailer.

Now.....

I'll find out by summers end if those numbers hold true. Everyone I have shown them to says they are right. You should see the bottom line where you really run nice freight....OMG.....

 

What are you using for fuel calculations? If anything that is where people are getting in trouble. And being in PA that seems very low.

Hope that rate is to the truck. But even that is low. You are in the $1.63 hub mile range. If you expenses move up to $1.20/mi now you are at company driver wages (I know, better right offs compared to additional taxes) but just rough numbers.

Other than the fuel I don't think you numbers are that off. Biggest concern would be the revenue. Averages are a liars game. Couple guys pulling a dedicated, good paying O/S load every week can skew the numbers.

 

Gravdigr, I am aware of the company you are going to lease on to and I hope that you look into everything really close...please don't get offended but If you have just started driving my advise would be to get at least 2 years under your belt, it can be a tad bit overwhelming trying to run a business and still trying to learn your truck. Be careful of the "$1.93 avg" that they promise you its more like $1.60 unless you are prepared to stand your ground and search for better rates. Be prepared to throw that lumber tarp you will deal with alum coils that require the 8ft drop. Dont be afraid to "step outside" the box and find your own freight? I believe the $.12 maintenance is INSANE.....you do not have the option to choose a truck you will be assigned one ????? Do not "over advance" yourself only take what you need? I wish you luck, but would advise you not to join that company, take some additional time be comfortable as a driver then wade into the water with us

Yeah I think so...I have pulled 2 loads for your company ummmm love it....transflow paperwork 11a money in my bank account 7a...nice bunch of people look foward to doing plenty of loads for them

 

Came really close to leasing on with them. I still check the load board every few days, they do have a lot of frieght...
