Well in San Antonio we had a driver drop his trl. to get his trk serviced. 2 hours later he comes back and somebody stole a 24 hp motor out of the back trl unit.
The motor was in a big box setup. they had to swing open the service door and take the top cover off as well to get to the motor.
Broad daylight and nobody saw a thing so they say.
This driver I know him and would trust his word.
    Things can happen

The truck got back today and there were no straps cut or missing. The only thing missing was the set of 8 foot drops. I also found out that the driver does not like tarping loads period. He was trying to convince me to not buy any other tarps and get him loads that do not need tarped. This was a serious red flag to me.

Sounds suspicious, take money out of his check to pay for the second set of tarps.

You have no legal recourse against the driver unless someone comes forward as a witness. Until then you should provide a means to secure the tarps, whether being a chain, binder and lock or a locked side box. Sorry, the blame rests completely on the truck owner until he (the truck owner) provides the necessary equipment for the driver to do his job or you have creditable evidence (eye witnesses, money trail, ect.) that the driver is stealing.

ya but this happened twice to the same driver.Does'nt it sound alittle fishy to you?Not every compny comes equiped with side boxes ect for tarps and those drivers don't have this much bad luck.Sounds like this driver is selling them. The owner gets equipment to lock the tarps up,that next excuse that driver will use is somebody broke into my side box and stole the tarps.
