I've been running a new 2012 Mack CHU613 Pinnacle now for about a month now. Prior to that I had a 2005 Pete 379. Last night, due to added loads, I had to use one of the older Petes for my night shift as the day shift guy wasn't back yet when I got to work. This one was a 2004 with about 750,000 miles on it. Although it rattles and has seen better days, it still felt more solid then the new Mack (which actually rattles already as well). With a little TLC, I'd almost rather have the old Pete for my nightly runs then the new Mack.

At one time, yes. Today, I'm not so sure. And for the record, I was always a Mack person. I was born and raised in the Allentown area, so Mack was a source of hometown pride for me.

When I hauled gas, we had BRAND NEW Macks. They ALL literally went to the shop twice a week. That us a totally trash brand if trucks these days, in my opinion. It's no competition, I'd take the Pete. 05 isn't even very old.

New(er) Macks are a joke, nothing but problems, especially turbos and wiring. Plus various vibration and quality control( lack there of).Glorified Volvo's unfortunately ,and all the volvo problems. . Definetly not the MACK of old days.

MACK is US styled VOLVO, with D13 EPA2012 engine (DPF+SCR+EGR) and M-drive is really I-shift. Mack powertraine got minor software difference with Volvo.

Dashboard is by VDO but in Mack style, really inside the same processor and screen (with other light).

What really differ: cab and suspention

I will say this. Those mDrive automatics are NICE! Fast shifting, skip gears if you're lightweight. I loved them.

i-shift shares TCM with ZF as-tronic/freedom, but I-shift box is the Volvo 12st ore 14 tranny, inside like a manual Volvo box (it is available on cabovers only). So I'd say I-shift (M-drive is I-shift with Mack logo), is one of the best autos. The new generation got coaxial clutch actuator and less problems with clutch actuator by Knorr, so notisable with first gen. I-shift and ZF.

I shift is available on Renault (OPTIDRIVER) and SISU. Really the only difference is Shifter in cab.))) LOL. Globalisation))))

That's what I have. The mDrive. It is a sweet transmission, and light years better then the Eaton Ultrashift!
