@Cool35 - We start at 20.38 hourly and top out at around 24 something after 3 years. Is Reddaway union as well since its owned by YRC. IF you want to be a road driver for YRC with the change in operations they only have road drivers at the bigger terminals now.

@1catfish - you gave it a try and know you didnt like it. Not sure what your other job is but you said its a gravy job so sounds good as long as your happy. Keep in touch and safe travels

@rtn33 yes thats true you are locked into a bid for the year, its not like CWF extra when you can do either at any moment. If you dont mind backing to docks, usng lift gates, dealing with people and city driving then you should be fine. However if its like my terminal you will spend more time in a ##### straight truck then a trailer. As a road driver all you really do is drive, get paid to sit and wait for trailers to be hooked, or break and hook them yourself if theres no switcher on duty. But hours and days can be long and be away from everyone in yur family so that can be rough. Honestly I would take what you can get, find out what has more work so you can make the money

@Squonk - I still NEVER went to an orientation. But looks like I am making the transfer soon since the dicks guys WILL bump me down... kinda like you said at FDX. How many miles did you get. Friend of mine who I worked at CWF with is at YRC doing linehaul and he LOVES it(hated linehaul at CWF) When I asked him about the terminal Im going to he had nothing but good things to say about it, and doesnt mind staying in hotels overnight if needed. Keep doing it and tell me what you think. Form skinny and my friend it seems worth it to make the switch

I hope I got everyones questions answered

I'll keep posting ACH1130. I figured I better take a day off to get some sheeit done (put last paycheck from FedEx in bank depository, & buy a few things I've learned I needed). One thing that pissed me off is I ruined a $60.00 shirt yesterday at the railyard. :biggrin_25516: So, I am going to the store & buy a bunch of dark colored tee shirts. I don't have hardly any work clothes because I wore company uniforms for past 20 years & YRC doesn't provide uniforms, so, tee shirts it is. :yes2557:

We don't have uniforms yet, it's in the process though. I wear my old FedEx pants and an old pair of jeans I don't care about.

    ACH1130,
The road positions where I live are are more like line. Then again that's what Yellow always called line here. I'm in southern Cali and I had to drive about an hour one way to be a road driver at Yellow. None of the other yards had road positions. It was well worth my time though and loved everything about the job. I started driving in 1995 and have been on the open road ever since. Tried local once and hated it.

As far as Reddaway is concerned, only 3 terminals are union. That's what I heard anyway. I don't know what their pay scale is. My yard isn't union. I know before YRC bought Reddaway it was a higher paying job. That's what all the drivers tell me anyway. Could answer why Reddaway is the only one hiring in the west and not YRC. They are taking advantage of the cheap labor. 40 cpm compared to 52 cpm to start! I think I'm gonna be sick. In all my years trucking, I never grossed less than 1000 a week. I do now though. I thought you guys took a pay cut? What were you guys making before? I'd be jumping for joy at your wages! Yellow was topped out at 54 cpm in 2007.

we did take a paycut. Heard from everyone about that. Well I just found out from my friend whos a road driver where I want to transfer too how much hes making and he just started... I wont mention it because it will upset you. We are in NY so the wages are probly a little higher. With the taxes is a reason why

Our city drivers already have their uniforms (rentals), but, they said the OTR drivers wont get any. Makes sense since we don't deal with customers (terminal to terminal). Anyway, I got me 2 weeks worth of some nice tees with pockets. I'm good to go. Waitin on that 0500 call.

Heard that from my friend as well... Glad to seem you think so too. I would bring my PS3 and stuff to keep myself occupied lol. Now what to do, my temrinal is 20 miles away and the other is 45 but if Im laying over a day or two and making more money I think it would be less wear and tear on my pov.

Couple rooms I stayed in, can't remember where lol, had big screen TVs & 1 hotel had an indoor pool. They all had very nice breakfast bars, but, some were free & some were not.? The hotel they put us up in here in Indy is the Radisson & it's REALLY nice.
