Yeah, I think they try to keep the long hauling to the sleeper crews. Like what ST does.

Yea it must be rough doing that. If i go to long island I can just stay at my dads or if in buffalo I can stay at this girls house I know and used to talk too. I dont mind staying in a hotel, especially if theres a pool or gym, its a lot better than staying in a truck

Yes, but, those sleeper teams are making the BIG bucks. I think I'd like to try it once I got a year under my belt.

Then again im 23 and like being home most of the time to hang with friends, and even go girl hunting again now that I can... As a road driver I wont be available as much but a lot of my friends work as well during week as well(last summer I was the only one) so it really dont matter to me. I also cook at lot of meals for me to bring for lunch and would bring extra and a small cooler just in case I lay over so I can save money and even eat healthier to continue my weight lose especially with a change in job operation. If a friend of mine got a CDL or if I have a gf who gets one then Id have no problem running teams

I could have never done this when I was your age. I was too much in love with beer.

Oh believe me so am I. But i need a job more, plus when I was 21 I wouldnt be able to do this since the firends and I were out 7 days a week being stupid. It was hard last year when the ex and I first started and she was only 20, and i would sneak her into places I know the people. Now that she turned 21 she isnt into it as much anymore so that was good for me starting here. I like being able to relax, drink a beer, smoke a cigar though quite a bit. heck I could even do that at the hotel if I road drive but I would hold the beer just to not cause problems

I didn't start trucking till I was 27 and had most of the partying out of my system. I got an OTR team job with a fleet owner to get experience and stayed for a year. I was home quite a bit. Went to CF and they went out of business. Got another OTR team job in 1999 and stayed till 2006 going from Cali to Carlstadt, NJ every week. Loved that job and made a lot of money doing it. Left Sunday night and got home Friday around 7pm. All drop n hook. They went under and I went to Yellow, about a year later laid off. Did some more OTR jobs here and there and now at Reddaway. I really liked OTR just sick of teams. I really don't like waiting for a phone call to see if I'm gonna work or sometimes I have to call them. I'm at their beckon call. That's how it was at Yellow too. I didn't know if I was gonna have the day off or not. Never could make plans. In a way it's worse than being OTR for me. I always had a dedicated run and always knew when I'd be home. I like the change of scenery. Now I just work nights and go to the same old places. I'm already so bored of it. I really hate running in California too, not to mention living here. The chain laws are ridiculous.

All the good companies have been bought out. Every good job I've had has been bought out or goes out of business. Last company I was at was OTR teams. I was making 1250 a week and only working 4 days a week. Get a message over the Qualcomm saying they sold the company. I couldn't believe it! My co-driver took one look at me and said "you know what this means" and I said yep. A week later the new company was taking all our good runs and giving it to their drivers who were all owner operators. So here I am at Reddaway waiting to see what happens next. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.
