Does anyone know about Smith's Transport near Roaring Springs, PA? I am about to put a application with them, since i see them all the time where i work now. But i am wondering if there any good pro or bad cons with them? There website seems like a good company, but wanted to make sure before i put any effort into trying with them

I believe US Xpress bought them out recently, but not 100% sure. Just searched it, apparently a minority ownership, will be operated separately.

I wrk for them now. I can give you some basics...Pros: nice equipment Petes/Freightliners nicely spec'd 450/475hp 1650/1750 tq engines....65 mph but they will turn up to 68+ once you complete safety class which is offered during orientation. Most trucks are already turned up...My road truck ran 71.Other goodies you can run like you wanna, no elogs, mostly drop and hook,so-so benies, I avg 2900 miles a week. The cons: Lotsa lotsa east coast/ New England area....Base pay is low even though you get bonuses and pay goes up depending on trip length and geography. Also if you choose to go home weekly you base pay is 3cpm less.Like me for example. I chose home every weekend so my base pay was 32 cpm and trips 300 loaded miles or less you get 3cpm extra,200 miles or less 7cpm extra and 100miles or less 25 cpm extra. You also get a 3cpm quarterly bonus based on all the miles you run that quarter. I was skeptical about this when I started but just before I switched to local my avg pay was 44cpm.... This job is not for everyone but if you are a runner and a hustler you will do alright here. Pay is not the best but with the perks and the fact they will run you will do alright...I know alot of drivers here that make 55/60k yrly...Anyway I hoped this help and if I can offer any other info just ask...
