Going to the day class. Thanks for the tip on Prime. I'll keep them in mind.

Yep, graduated last week actually. Got all my endorsements except the passenger and bus. Just don't see myself needing those, so couldn't justify the cost.

Anyway, looking at different companies and weighing pro's/con's. Got Pre-hire from Werner, Schnieder and Gordon. Each has some good points and some not so good. Haven't commited to anyone yet.

Glad Prime is working out for you. Sounds like a pretty solid company and the trucks look pretty ****nice. I am taking a look at them as well, just not sure about running TCU all the time.

Where are you based out of with them?

I start with CDS on the 21st, i already have my permit, combo, air brakes and tanker endorsement. Waiting on tsa check to get my hazmat. I am a bit ahead of the curve but that is alright. They accept the gi bill, so it is a good option for my fellow veterans.

I just finished up my 2nd week today. This school is well run, time is managed well and while there is a certain instructor that does not have enough patients with someone who has never driven a truck I would say my experience so far has been fantastic. My instructor took him in yesterday and after two trips around the port he was able to double clutch up and down with minimal grinding. I have been pretty impressed with the knowledge outside of the classroom. The first week was sort of death by power point but the driving portion of the class has been fantastic.

They run the school like a well oiled machine. Good people. You will learn a ton in a short time. You driven the doubles or flatbed yet?

Most of my prior experience is a 40 ft flat bed from the army, that is not going to be an issue. We are suppose to drive the doubles this coming week at some point. I have had Randy for an instructor, he has been fantastic.

i went to south seattle community college for drivers school. 8 week program, cost $451 (but that was back in the early 90's) and i collected unemployment while attending. a very good school, quite intensive and spent a whole week just on backing. for profit schools are always more interested in profit than schooling.

a buddy of mine works for prime...he seldom makes $600 a week. he'll make a thousand one week and be in the hole for the next three weeks. leasing a truck is a stupid, stupid venture. you are making payments on something you don't get to keep.
