I came across this one in virginia beach and in north carolina, the speaker boxes are empty, no speaker inside. Last time in NC I ask the guy can I open the box he say no he is in a hurry.

Lol I had this happen to me. About 3years ago at an HEB in the Vintage Park area in Houston/Klein area(249 and louetta). Guy said he was delivering them to strip clubs and had a few "extras" from the factory that he had no paperwork for. I just thought it was funny he was approaching people in the HEB parking lot.

    Correct.

I'm not disagreeing with the point you're making overall, but you're rarely getting a good price by selling to a gun shop (and especially not a pawn shop), period. Unless you sell it on consignment, in which case, you can sell it at whatever price you want - IF a buyer who wants it at that price happens across it. But then the shop charges a consignment fee... generally speaking, you can get more money selling it privately, or you can guarantee a sale to a gun/pawn shop for considerably less. When I had my gunsmithing shop up and running, new firearms were the LEAST profitable item I sold. Accessories and used guns (not to mention gunsmithing services) were where I made my money at with it.

I have bought things from truck drivers before, but not from people wandering around truck stops. Well, I did buy a Chinese made pellet rifle from a guy advertising it on the CB, but he was able to show a bulk purchase receipt for a whole shipment of them, so I feel pretty safe that it wasn't hot. Turned out to be a pretty good buy, too. But I'd veer away from anyone trying to sell an actual firearm under those conditions. It's like you said in the first block I quoted from you.

Aside from the sob stories, I really can't think of any scams that I'd been propositioned with. Can only think of two times I've been aware of anyone trying to sell a gun. First was in 03, in Las Vegas. Guy had an Enfield rifle (amongst other items) which he was selling out of his pickup... sort of flea market style, minus the flea market. I lost interest when I saw it was sporterized. Second was a month and change ago, in Houston. Guy was on the radio offering to sell another driver a 9mm (he didn't specify manufacturer or model).

Honestly.. I think the biggest scam is the Iowa 80. No, not at the Iowa 80 - the Iowa 80 itself is a massive scam with all the overpriced and useless crap they sell.

Here's a way you can scam yourself into a good nights rest with out being jostled from your sleep by a lady ... er ... working gir... er lot lizard.

Take a couple of Kleenex, wad them up a bit, ad a squirt of Jergens hand lotion and leave the final product on the passenger side steps of your rig. It's sort of gross, but if you're in an infested TS this will send the message that this truck has already been serviced... so to speak.

This very method has been used for the last few decades by my Uncle and several of his friends while flat-bedding around this wonderful ... but sometimes sleazy ... country. I used it several times while driving for Stevens in 08. It really does work. The only time I was ripped out of deep sleep by a lot lizard was when she ... er ... he ... it was banging on my neighbor's truck. LOL
