The Company I drive for had us sign a notice that bans drivers from using any communication device while in motion including Bluetooth or hands free.. No CB, can't send or acknowledge a message over Sat-Com.

We must park off highway and have the parking brakes set before engaging in any form of communication in the cab.

Thankfully we are allowed to tune the am-fm radio, and drink a beverage, but not allowed to consume any food or snack.

Anyone have this happen at their company?
    Possible insurance incentive?

    Thanks Dude6710 and Marc,
None of the guys I work with are happy about it and we are trying to get the company to reconsider.
    We will see what happens.

How many drivers are there at this company? Is this place unionized? Are the drivers staying busy, lately? Is this a private carrier? Sounds like a company looking to thin out the driver segment and wants to avoid any unemployment insurance/claims hits (that occur with layoffs). For those who don't get mad and quit, all they have to do is have some one in "management" observe the drivers for a few hours, and document the "violation" and be fired for not following company policy. You can easily get rid of drivers with this sort of policy and no one can make any sort of unfair termination claim or hit them with unemployment.

You pretty much have it nailed. Nationwide company, union at some locations, and yeah, they do "observations".

The way to get them to reconsider is to not show up for work for a few days. All of you.
