I don't know about all that, but I LOVE working for Celadon! I did 126000 miles last year, had 4 weeks Paid vacation, was home on a regular basis, had 3 clean dot inspections, was given a brand new truck at 300000 miles on my other one! Have been treated with respect and consideration by my driver manager, mike morris. Not much more to say. Driving for any company has its ups and downs, but I have had more ups with celadon.

If you see Celadon trucks pulling Hiner trailers, don't get confused: they own them now.

I heard about that. Seems to me they were having trouble handling the freight they had, why are they looking for more? Anytime they buy a company they lose almost all the drivers, and it takes time to replace them.

Oh well, guess it's none of my concern anymore. And it is a good thing for the drivers who enjoy being busy busy busy.

From what I heard, Hiner was having problems making payroll and paying their employees so they were in bad shape.

Then Hiner probably already lost all their drivers, huh? :biggrin_2552:

Well, there were soooo many Hiner (Hiney?) drivers that they held an orientation on Sunday AND opened the cafeteria so they wouldn't have to eat dinner from the vending machines. Actually I think there was about 120 drivers coming for orientation over the next couple days.

I love my new truck. Since my idling has gone down and my fuel mpg has gone up, my speed got bumped up to 64. :)
..which is wonderful since I've been driving 62 for over a year now.

The APUs are really nice. That was the first one I ever had.

Welcome aboard, former Hiner drivers! Hope you get a good DM, cause there are a few "stinkers" in the group. The miles are there, and you'll run steady. If you live in Indiana, think about the regional jobs that have you running to Canada and back into the Midwest, or even down to Laredo, TX. They can't hire enough drivers to cover their freight. And don't worry about getting home, because they will get you there. I know. I live in southern Florida and they get me home every time, within a 24 hour window of when I'm supposed to be here. My only problem is trying to decide what to do with 3 weeks of vacation now!

I am not a recruiter as someone above said! I am a driver. We can idle if its hotter than 70 or colder than 20 in the older 2010 trucks. They have espar heating units that work great! At least mine did..I was never uncomfortable, even in laredo lasy year when it was over 100, since we can idle if its 70 or hotter..but, most of the new trucks and they are actively awitching over to them, have apus..my new one does and I love it! They switched me out at 297000..they run me well, as I said I did 126000 last year, they always get me home within 24 hours of my hometime request, I ask to get home a day earlier if I have an appt or want to do something special..mm well, orientation sux! No doibt about that, but, in the end it has been worth it!

My idle time went from 60% in my old truck to 9.75% in my new truck with an apu. I love this thing!
