Yea I think it has to do with what transmission you are running. My 13 I float all the way, and its going to be the same for a 18. When you get down into the 10 and super 8's your probly going to find a higher percentage using the clutch.
But with the 13 it just wants to glide into gear. Even at many stops, if there is even a slight down grade to get the truck rolling it just slides into gear.
Do you float gears or double clutch?

I used to float all the time except for maybe going around corners, then I might use the clutch. Now they gave me a truck with an automatic so I can't do either...

Exactly. I don't understand why anyone would want a 10 speed. Bigger ration and rage I guess? Less shifting? I could see this being useful in certain situations but I'm plenty happy with the extra shifting of my 18 due to the ease of it.

Driven lots of ten speeds and never had a problem with floating...
-
Is that on the tree or the floor?

I've never had a problem floating any unsynchronized transmission, including ten speeds, and even the Mack Maxitorque transmission with the five forward and five reverse gears. A ten speed just takes some getting used to after you've become so used to the H-pattern transmissions.

I feel that the only difference between a 9 and a 10 is obviously the 5 gears down and 5 up, but the RPM gaps seem to be closer together on a 10 speed, which I really like. I can't stand the HUGE gaps on a 9.

Neither. It's a push button thing built into the console.okiedokie Thanks this.

^WOW! I got into a new KW a while back and I couldn't tell what half the buttons did. They had all these symbols on them. 30 years behind the wheel and then that! It was pathetic. Sometimes it just obvious when your time is up.
allniter Thanks this. -
Took me a week to figure out how to turn on the fridge outlet in the sleeper...it's the switch with the snowflake in a box.
