I just talked to a YRC driver and he said they top out at up to 52 cpm a mile depending on where you work. That's the same as Reddaway. We top out at 52 cpm too. I was making 54 cpm in 2006 when they were Yellow. I would think they should be making 60 cpm by now.

Well ST, I was at 309 last night. That terminal is definitely the biggest one I've been to so far. And, guess what? I FINALLY went to a terminal I've been to before. Thought that was never gonna happen. lol Also, I think I like driving at night better (way easier). Anyhoo, I've been 'put-to-bed'. Night...

Had my interview today with ABF and I really like what they have to offer. The guy that interviewed me didn't bs me. He pretty much told me that it would be rough starting out. Human Resources has to do there thing and then hopefully I know something soon. Anyone know how long they take to do background checks?

Well back in the day Raodway took 6 weeks to hire me. Yellow took about 3 weeks. UPS took my friend 2 months! Don't kmow about ABF though. I'd say between 2 and 4 weeks.

Hopefully with todays technology, background check times will be reduced. I'm praying that it takes 2 weeks or less. :biggrin_25519:

ABF is a very good company to go to. They are teamsters as well. Pay is about the same as YRC, maybe more maybe less I dont know. Yes it will be rough starting out just like other LTL companies, the turnover rate is little to none at ABF, when i had my interview the guy told me pretty much you have to wait until someone retires before even getting senoirity. I wouldve went with them but its almost a hour away from home where as YRC is 20 min so if Im not working much at least Im not burning up my gas

Well today was a VERY crazy day. First I was supposed to go out in one of the POS straight trucks that a guy wrote up last night and they put him in a diff one and me in his. As I am driving it it pops out of 4th gear, and the 5th wouldnt even work... I drove about 3 miles and called the shop steward and told him so he said bring it back. they had to off load that truck and put it on a diff truck that was supposed to be going way up north and the stop he had to go to was about 10 miles out of the way. They werent happy but shouldve taken that truck OOS ASAP. So I get one stop still and another added onto a pup. Deliver first stop and 2nd stop they refused it because they needed a liftgate.

After that I make 2 pickups and take lunch. Then make one more close to the yard. Go back and swap a 40 footer to an elevator sales/parts whatever it is. Killed almost 3 hours with that. Easy stop where you move everything up front on a pallet(if you dont have one they give you one) Then they put the crates inside and have these tools that push them up front. I like going there since the guys are cool and all I do is bust their chops(they do the same to me). Then I am sent back to the yard.

Its about 415 as I enter the yard and the dispatcher had already left so Im thinking ok either I got a pickup close by, possible home depot deliveries or going on as a switcher for a bit. NOPE I am being sent to a HUGE account for us. which is about 40 miles away, hour drive each way, and its a swap 48 foot trailer. Its usully our last pickup for the day since its ready after four and availabe till 1130. So I leave at 4:30 and with the traffic in CT on i95 it took me a lil over two hours to get there(bumper to bumper for 24 miles) Around 6:30 I get there after creeping around trying to find it. I heard from everyone what to do here and im thinking its a huge factory. NOPE just 7 doors, and a small area for trailers. I park, go inside call security and get let inside, where I sign the bills, talk to the manager, and was given a few cases of tea that he recommended I try(TEa company). So after all paper work is done, I go outside and figure out how Im doing this. First I turn around and back the trailer straight back, then unhook, hook the loaded, pull out (very tight) and move into the entrance driveway and then unhook and hook the empty and put in the door.

ok so after I punch in the bills and pros into the radio its about 745 now, so I am told come back. Stopped for coffee at the truck stop for my last ten minute break, then no traffic the whole way back to the barn, got in around nine, by the time I filled a log, dropped trailer and do paper work it was about 930 that I left. So a 13.5 hour work day for a p/d driver. Im not complaining, I was loving every second of it. Hopefully I can get lucky enough to do it tomorrow
