after 2 hrs then the "automatic detention pay" starts correct and at a whopping 17$$ an hr that is very generous ...walmart has a detention pay kill switch though correct??

When a flight is late, the crew still gets paid. When your taxi is late, the driver still gets paid. Bus running late? Driver gets paid. Most drivers that are late are due to circumstances beyond their control. Breakdowns, crappy dispatching, previous customer took too long. Drivers should get paid for EVERY hour that they work, whether it's at a dock, in line at the Blue Beacon, fueling, everything.

Hello everyone, are you there? Big_Al is 100% correct! I would love to hear from anyone who disagrees with his post. He is right on target! I don't know about anyone else but you will never see me working for free for any company. My time is valuable and so is yours.

if your late due to your own mistake.then you shouldn't get paid...if the company screwed up..then i could see having the company pay you for their screw up.

In a perfect world I would like to get paid for every minute, however be careful what you wish for. My hourly wage while driving down the road is over $26/hour, I'm sure if all otr drivers got paid for every minute, it would not be at a rate like that, even though it probably should be. it would most likely be in the $15-18 range, not sure.
I do think we should be paid a set amount for every drop/hook, fuel stop, wait at a warehouse, etc. etc., just to make it right.
I'm afraid that paying otr drivers hourly just won't work, as some drivers would milk the system just to make more money for less work. I know they would be the exception, but would have to be performance based as well.
A lot of companies have eliminated performance based bonuses, which I think was not the best decision.
It's never going to be like a 40 hr/week job, we all know that. If that's what a driver thinks, he should try to get a local hourly job.
I know the system is not perfect, but for me, with my experience, I could not make the money I'm making working an hourly job, out I would be doing it. I don't live for the"lifestyle", it sucks, but I'm willing to continue because of the money I make, bottom line. Now, with that said, I would not do it if I wasn't making an average of $1100/week.
It's definitely not perfect, but don't think it will be changed any time soon.

But think about it. At 16.50/hr, with O/T you would only have to work 58 hours to make your $ 1100. I am sure you work way more than that now. Plus, if you are getting paid by the hour, you can bet your company won't put up with you sitting at a customer for 6 hours. And even if they do, 16/50/hr for watching TV is a good gig.
