I recently was asked to drive with an O/O who hauls for fed ex. My question is 'does he hire me, or do I have to be hired by fed ex in order to be able to drive with him. he is the one who would be paying me.

He would be hiring you, but fedex probably has to approve you. FedEx uses mostly independent contractors. You have to meet minimum standards to contract with them, and any one the IC hires must also meet those standards.

Never tried to get on there, so I have no idea. I would guess, clean MVR, clean criminal background, drug test (possible hair follicle), might also have to be bondable (i think this would go along with clean CBC), certain amount or years of exp. FedEx may have something on their website, again just speculation on my part.

Yeah, that's the norm with any truck company/O/O. O/O hires you but truck company also approves.
