The shop was able to fix my truck and I got a load up to Dover, Oh Wednesday. This is the same place I delivered to in 2011 where I pumped the product into the wrong tank. There was major construction right where I was to unload that blocked the main gate our directions sent us to. Only way to the unloading spot was through a construction entrance then off road across an area they have cleared for a new building.
I also had to back down the street my directions put on until my trailer triggered a stop light then back across the road to turn left. Finally got to the spot and the guy came out, looked at my bills, and told me to hook up to the same pipe I delivered to last time. I asked him twice if he was sure, explaining what happened last time and was assured this was the correct pipe.
I hooked everything up and waited for him to come back and sign off on the paperwork before turning on the pump. He came out and told me there must be some mistake. They just got a load yesterday and the tanks were full.
He looked at the bills again, took them inside and came out telling me this was a different product and to move everything to another pipe 15 feet away. Almost made the same mistake twice. Had they had room in the first tank we probably would have contaminated it again.
I was tankwashed back to High Point. Got stuck in a nasty wreck for about 3.5 hours on I-77. A women in a Chrysler crossed the median and hit a FedEx pulling doubles. She was DOA but the driver of the truck survived. Was still able to get back to the yard that night.
Friday I bobtailed down to Charleston SC and brought an empty trailer back to the yard and got home by 8PM.
Have a dedicated load for Monday where we take an empty Carry trailer to the Transport Services tankwash/terminal in Loudon Tn, get it washed out, and load corn syrup across the street. That delivers Tuesday in Greensboro. I plan to run down to Loudon Sunday night hoping that they keep me running. Last time I did this load I left Monday at 4 AM. That makes for a long day -

Just got home after delivering the Carry load. Have a N Chicago Dry bulk out and back for tomorrow. I should be home Friday afternoon and off until at least Tuesday. That will put me over 2000 miles for the week. Nice thing about that Carry load is they pay you $20 for the tankwash (45 minutes) and $20 for the loading (30 minutes).
Taking a few days off for my sons HS graduation.
Heading down to Sams in a few minutes to pick up about 40lbs of Boston Butt. Going to cook up some barbecue for his party. -
Lucky!...We only get $6 something for load/unload and nothing for washing, so I'm told. Fri was my first check and it training so it was hourly, so I have yet to see what I'm even getting paid. Wasn't really worried about that, I just had to get away from ADM and the union. I know I wont make at Carry what ADM paid, but will still be a decent living and a much better company...there's more to life than money.
Enjoy the time off and the bbq

Rob, I picked up a wood pellet smoker a while back and it cooks pretty well, But I still like the flavor of low n slow charcoal. You using a rub or anything special? I cooked up some pork loin that i stuffed with oranges, apples and fresh basil (then tied it up with butcher string) last week and grilled em up. They came out real good. Have a good weekend. Im headed to TX.

$6.00 per delivery or loading? That sounds low. Maybe its because food grade loads faster than chemicals.
We don't get paid for dropping trailers at tank washes but if we wash out the one we have its just like loading and unloading. $20 for the first 2 hours then the hourly rate after that. When you find out post up the pay scale. I am curious. -
I use a vertical Brinkman charcoal smoker like this one.

I use Montreal Steak rub on the butts that I got from Sams. Usually put some apple juice in the water pan and throw a couple sticks from the hickory tree in the back yard on the fire. It cooks low about 8 hours.
I am also doing a pork loin in my propane big easy oil less turkey fryer for those who don't like smoke flavor. Those take about 1.25 hours and are roasted at 400+F with infrared heat. They always turn out good. I like the oranges and apple idea I may play around with that some time. -
Will do. I'm going to get a full description on all pay and post it all on here one of these days. It will be on the Carry thread. Hopefully it will be Monday.

Had a rather uneventful run up to N Chicago and back Wed, Thur and Fri. Only screw up was a 4 hour drop and hook in N Chicago. Plant called dispatch wanting me there 2 hours early only to not get the load ready until 2 hours after my original appointment time. Fortunately I had run out my 11 on the first leg and had plenty of time to make the turn and still get home Friday by 6PM.
I had planned to take Friday and Monday off. I got a call from dispatch Friday afternoon saying they had just gotten a California load called in and wanted to know if I could run Monday afternoon. All of the graduation festivities are Sat and Sun so I said sure. They are loading a trailer Monday morning that delivers in Roseville Ca Friday or Saturday, preferably Friday. Kind of nice not having to burn 2 days of vacation. I am sure I will need that money once things slow down a bit. Roseville is up north of Sacramento. Looking forward to running I-80 for a change. -
I am throwing some chicken on the charcoal today at the yard while I'm on my layover. Doing a run to Dallas, then Waco and heading to Pocatello ID on Wednesday and delivering Monday 6/18 with a reset. Then back to Houston to load for Ohio. You know of any good places to stop on 80 around Cheyenne?
