When I first started driving, they were not hiring in my area.
I received an email from them today, saying they were opening a new terminal in my area, and they are hiring class A CDL drivers for home every night day cab positions. It also stated the positions were hourly pay.
Any info would be appreciated.

Will be local furniture deliveries, driver assist. I'm local/short-haul out of the Lakewood, WA terminal..up to 12 drops a day. Not sure what the hourly rate will be, I'm mileage + drop pay + Canada pay when I run up there.walstib Thanks this.

thanks for the info.

$18/hr is what I heard they were paying the day cab guys in NJ. It will be LTL furniture and carpet delivery so it's definitely not a steering wheel holder job. Lots of stops and backing and freight touching. Very similar to a city P&D job with a freight company except there's really no pick-ups. Luckily the local guys don't have to do all this with a 53/sleeper combo like the short liners do...that gets a little ridiculous.

I do the same thing out of the KY terminal except we're not hourly...Great gig!...I sent you a PM...

Starting school on June 25. Thinking about W/S. I live in Nashville, TN. Anyone know what terminal I would be working out of? Will I have the choice to do regional or is OTR the only option? Not that that will be the determining factor. What trucks do they run?
Thanks -
Ok been following W/S threads for awhile now (AT etc.). Applied and had a phone interview with Kristy and given a orientation date of 18 June 2012. Would appericate any info on the OTR out of the SFS Ca. Terminal. Plan on being out 3-4 wks at a time. Thanks ahead of time

I start orientation on 6/11. I am curious if they give you a newer truck once you get through the boot camp?
Not being picky, just curious. -
As per phone conversation with W/S my take was, you get what you get .They have no new vehicles .

Newer doesn't mean better...I drive an 05 with 775,000 on the clock and it's great!...Out pulls almost anything and gets over 8mpg ensuring I always get fuel bonus!!!...She's a beast and I like it!...
One thing I would recommend is do as many runs out of the Myrtle and Conover terminals as you can...Mostly LTL runs and the numerous stops will give you the skills you need to be a confident driver in the shortest period of time...Anyone can hold a steering wheel and drive 11hrs a day but hitting 5-15 docks a day is what develops the skills and confidence!!!!
