I posted my experience in the bad trucking company forum, but I wasn't the only one. I met several people at the various Werner terminals I went to who were having problems or quitting. I even ran into a guy in Phoenix who was in the same orientaion as I in Lakeland who was quitting two weeks before me. The only guys I met who were doing okay were the O/O's because Werner keeps them running (if they're buying they're trucks through Werner.)

I drove for werner once and it was an experieance. There paperless logs arnt what they'er all cracked up to be. Lets say that,"and this did happen to me", your at a customer and your just about done unloading and your hours are up and there is a truck stop just 10 minets away. Youd think that the computer would let you drive just a few miles to get to a hot meal and a nice shower. No way. When that stupid qualecom screams at you that your in violation it will mess up your hours completly. This happend to me in Michegin at a distrabution center when I dropped a loaded trailer and picked up an empty one. I was out of hours and there was a truck stop just 2 miles down. I had to sit in there parking lot for a day in a half with no food no nothin waiting for a load. And there trucks my look nice on the outside but don't let that fool you. There trucks suck too.

I would certainly take a "violation" over not having any food for a day and a half............

i wonder too how it works. Once when i was with my trainer we were waiting for a load for a day. while waiting we drove to a restaurant, walmart, blockbuster, to the shipper, and back to truck stop. they were all withing a 10 mile radius of each other, we did get over 45mph, but it got never picked up.

I work for Werner and I you are at a shipper or con and you run out of hours and there is a ts down the road you can call and they will let you run to a safe place to park without being in violation.

Interesting. I work for Werner also and am curious. Why were you on the road with no food anyway? Do you live out of the truck stops? Also, having a place to stop for the night is part of trip planning. I do not put down other companies or drivers, I was just curious why you would run a truck with no food. Both of my truck I have had with Werner were quite nice. First was a 2006 379 and my current is a 2007 387, which I picked up brand new. If you take care of the truck, there is no reason for it to be as bad as you are describing.

Well, went with werner 2nd time around. Was on dedicated Dollar General out of Oklahoma first time and made great money, just tired of unloading trailers. 2nd time around got a 05 W900L and it was spotless on the inside. Have heard of a few nasty trks, but havnt seen them. By the way, they offer you southwest regional, run very, very fast. You will starve to death and get lots of nasty phone calls from your wife wondering where all the money is going!!! Am taking the truck back to Dallas 2morrow and going back to the 12trk company I was working for!! They don't care if you make money once they get you on an account. Driver placement is a joke, except for a guy named Nick. He seems to try, just not hard enough. Was told I would be home every 6 days, so left Omaha on 11-30 and didnt get home till 12-23. Said if I went home, I would only get 1 day (being Christmas) off. Then no promise that would happen. So I stayed out thinking I would run hard and make some money. WRONG!!! Out of hours and setting alot. Loads that required setting at docks for 7-8 hours and eating up you log because they would always make you leave before the 14hr would reset. Well, I have had enough. Maybe a good company for some, but not me. The shops seem good at certain terminals, others not so good. Equipment was always good except for the first trk in 98 (mid roof 94 volvo that was a rattle-trap).
Never had problems getting to a TS or safehaven. They let you go over about 30 minutes for that. You will still get a message on the QC, but it is computer generated. Logs never said anything to me about it.

As long as your not under a load--for example you just emptied out--they will ok you to get to a truck stop/safehaven but you must get it approved before doin it. As far as the logs and cheatin on them--i heard some say it has to do with certain minutes as well but i never tried to cheat them. I always got approvals to get to safe haven or something.
