When I took that bus back from Iowa to Maryland. It was the best bus ride I ever had, I just got my CDL and was loving life after all that BS. anyway.. Don't be over 50 lbs on the big bag and make sure you put the label on your bag of your destination so you will get your bag back if you leave it somewere like Indianapolis. (like i did). Put your number and home address.. Do not forget this.
Traveling to orientation via Greyhound.

I once rode from Dallas back to El Paso when I went on home time from Stevens (bit the bullet and went home from the yard). I had a guy near me who was obviously from some Eastern European country ask every time the bus stopped if we were in Los Angeles. Yeah dude, does Van Horn, TX look like Los Angeles? When we got to El Paso and he asked for the ten millionth time, i wanted to say "Yes, we are in Los Angeles!"

If you have trouble riding the Grey Dog
, with those minor irritations
, something tells me you ain't going to like trucking.
123456 Thanks this. -
I would not ride a Greyhound and I like trucking just fine. I even drive team and enjoy it, still would never ride a Greyhound. Even if a company wouldn't reimburse me for a flight, I'd pay it rather than take a Greyhound. Did I say I wouldn't ride a Greyhound?

I am quite sure it hasn't changed much. The first time I took a running dog was spring break 1974 to go home to NY from college in Florida. If I recall it was back then the dirtiest, urine smelling, vomit stinking cattle car ride I ever endured. Fast forward to 1999, 25 years later, it was the dirtiest, urine smelling, vomit stinking cattle car ride I ever took, and that was from NY to Indiana. Here we are in 2012, new buses on the road, that I'm quite sure ar the dirtiest, urine smelling, vomit stinking cattle cars ever assembled for public transportation. Good luck, at least today you have baby wipes, hand sanitizer and other carryon disenfectants to make your ride a little more bearable.
Doesn't seem too much different then your local truck stop mens room at 7 in the morning. -
The difference between trucking and riding greyhound is that you can leave all the touchy feely smelly people back at the truckstop!JohnBoy Thanks this.

Their country may be in chaos but the Mexicans have done it right when it comes to bus travel compared to Greyhound. The luxury class buses down there are so nice. Wide seats (24 total) with bathrooms with flushing toilets and a sink, snack bar with drinks. They even give you a sack lunch and pillow when you get on board.

The difference between the 2 countries on a bus is quite obvious, here it would be next to impossible to decapitate 49 people on a remote highway, there it happens far too often for my liking. Based on that alone I would ride a Greyhound bus here again, and put up with the garbage.

I was set to go to W/S just after I graduated CDL school in 2010 I liked the idea of only a 10 day orientation than your on your own no trainer(sink or swim), is that still the program ?
I got a local job at the last minute so I never made it to Missoula, the last time I took the dog was when I joined the service in the mid 70's I can only imagine what its like nowadays.
Good luck when you get to Montana.... W/S seems to be a fair company to start with from what I've heard.
