    Like lasvegas said, the biggest deal killer is going to be insurance. Most insurers want 21 or 23.

    Also, since you can only operate intrastate (within the state, law says you can't run interstate until 21), it will limit your options further.

    But don't give up hope. There are literally thousands of local companies in TX that will take you on. Just keep looking. Also, try looking in those little free newsheets at the local supermarket (like Greensheet, etc.). They always have tons of trucking jobs listed in them.

    I was going to suggest talking to construction companies near you. One of them may be happy to put you in a dump truck, until I saw that you were in trucking school.

    might also try the docks in galvaston, movin containers from the ships to the yards, its yard dog work so it would be hourly but it also needs to be done.

    You live in an area with alot of freight so there should be someone who will hire you. A local job will be your best bet. You gotta start somewhere and I think its easier if you went to school b/c insurance is cheaper.
    Good luck man!!!!!:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519:

    Um, forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't your age listed as 21? hahahahaha
    Perhaps you're birthday is soon such as mine. I am listed as 23, but will be 24 in about two weeks..... However, 4 years ago when I was only 20..... well, 4 years isn't that long of a time ago. yet, you where 20 one year ago, and write about it like it was decades ago?:biggrin_2559: sorry, I couldn't not reply.

    I would try the Custom Harvest Crews. They travel all over, its fun, and good experience.

    No company should hire under 21 years of age!!! Most young drivers at 21 are driving their trucks like cars!!!

    Dude get that CDL and hit up the Oil companys they need guys and its going to keep you local and the pay blows OTR away. I live in Kern County (Hate to say it California) big Oil here and they hire under 21 all the time. I start with a CDL at 18 in the oil fields only reason I'm not there today is my knee's are bad.
