I watched one of the first episodes until the oversize load guy pulled out of the yard without securing his load; no chains, no straps, nothing. That was it for me.

What about when that younger guy got that new Volvo and KNEW he was having problems with his brakes and left the yard ANYWAYS (w/out fixing the problem, he though just dumping alcohol in it was "fixing" it) and then slammed into a 4 wheeler truck and ruined that pretty new Volvo. (I know, "pretty" is debatable)
-
Well he did not really RUIN the Volvo , heck if that was the case 99% of the VOLVOS that SWIFT have would be Write Offs. Besides he ended up marrying 1 of the shows producers .
Speedemon1084 Thanks this. -
no, no not RUINED it... correct.
But that truck was a "new truck" I think he said?
It ruined the pretty is what I'm sayin.
If you went down and bought a NEW car/truck, pulled outta the lot, and smacked the fender/facia up hard and ugly on it, it'd be "ruined" huh? At least, that "new" feeling would.
That's what I hate about nice vehicles. When they get scarred up they show it more than an old clunker. -

That Volvo was not brand new , he switched jobs and got it when another driver headed home and was happy as the old truck he had no heat

From Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay they say on the show its a 500 mile drive, but yes i do believe they get % of load, when they ask Hugh to come back he asked for a larger cut.chompi said: ↑Does anyone know about what they make? Figure the runs are pretty much all under 300 miles. If its taking them 12 hours to run those roads and they really can't go that fast. Actually 300 miles is probably high but for argument sake will leave it at that. I know that Hugh is just starting this year getting percentage so that isn't how they did it in the past. They also boast about the most "loads" not miles so I wonder if they are just getting lump sum per load or what?
Anyone???Click to expand...chompi Thanks this. -
For me, after season 3, the show went from mostly about the ice roads and the trucking aspects, almost Discovery channel like, but after season 3, the show shifted to a typical "reality tv" show, and creating dramatic scenes that didnt really exist and created drama between the truckers. They didnt even do well with post production, you can tell where scenes were spliced to create a dramatic scene and obvious voice over dubbing and added voice clips and other added sounds. One annoyance of mine is how they use the same 2 or 3 recorded truck horn every time a truck rolls by. I better stop there before I write a few more paragraphs of other cheap annoyances about the show.

This year and last Hugh was running into Northern Ontario and Northern Manitoba were its really only winter roads and ice roads , the ones running the Dalton are on a real YEAR ROUND highway from Fairbanks right into Predue Bay.
