Hey guys I got a question for anyone who works for Allied Waste or Republic Service. I just started with this company and wanted to know form anyone who works for this outfit if it's a good company or not? I know there is alot of hard work involved which is not a problem, and from what I was told very good pay. Though being a union company is the benefits all that great to everyone else that works for this company? Also do they screw you out of your pay with all the stops that you have to do?

Hey Chris I was just about to start this very same thread, I registered here to do just that. I am having interview this week for residential driver. Do you know the starting pay? Do you get a helper or are those positions a thing of the past? Do they work Mon-Fri or is it a 7 day a week operation? Thanks for any help.

well this is all I can tell you I start my day around 4:00am and there is alot of work involved. Iam training in the residential but there is commerical to. The training is with another driver is about 10 days and after that they will send me to wheeling for 3 or 4 days of trainning on driving their trucks. I was talking to one of my trainners about that and they started that this year I assume with safety. You might have a 90 probabiation and after that you can either bid on a route or they will flout you around also be elliglble for insurance and 401k. They pay you by the stop which if I am mistaken 20 to 25 cents a stop. Though you get alot of stops so after the trainning they should or might give you short routes until you know your way around. Eventually they might give you more range from 100 to 800 stops. I do know trailer parks if there is any in your area will double in pay. The ones that Iam talking about is rear loader which means you litteraly get out of the truck and throw the trash in there. It's also a union job and from what I have told the money is good. Hope this helps

You will probably work five but If I am not mistaken you may work 6 if you have been their awhile. With helper you will get that after your 3 to 4 day traininng which they pay for and if you know the route and have alot of stops you will get a helper. They also have a roll off division which pays pretty good and that is pick up a huge dumpster u see in construction and commerical areas and take it to their nearby landfill and return it that site. That they pay u by the load.

Thanks Chris I had a phone interview and it went well. Not to be stuck up but I am just what they are looking for as far as I can tell. The pay is very nice to start, it was around 800 stops and you are on your own, no helper he said. With the starting pay and the OT involved it sounds like your gonna make $1,300 a week. He kept saying "most weeks" you'll work 6 days a week, why would that be? He also said "most days" you'll work 5am to 5pm, THAT'S 12 HOURS! Why would that be or is that something they just tell you? Anyway with the possible OT and straight time pay, its real good money. Thanks again for the help.

Good luck DC804, I really would like to work for Republic services or WM but they just won't give me a chance. I don't get it.

DC804, I had an interview with WM and it went as well as can be. I have no accidents, no tickets, no DUI's, and 40 hours of OSHA safety training. The guy asked me "when can you start, how much time do you need to tell your employer your leaving", I said i can start today, my boss doesn't care. He then said "well you certainly have the experience". And after all that they still didn't hire me. Does that sound odd to you?

I tried to apply with Republic a few years ago as a driver helper and never got a call back and when I called them to check the status of my application they said that all positions are full. It is still one my favorite solid waste companies though.
