As luck would have, another of my aging toys has bit the dust.
The recent upgrade in desktop PC, won't allow the use of 16 bit apps in a 64 bit environment.
Anyone have any suggestions for a HTML editor. Not interested in a bloated WYSIWYG editor. Not interested in a "all-in-one" editor.
But I would like one that supplies a list of codex for simple insertion.
To date..... I've tried CoffeeCup 12, EvrSoft, CoffeeCup 9, and WebTide.
CoffeeCup 9 & 12 are close, but not what I want. Simplicity wise.
WebTide just crashes. And EvrSoft....is buggy.
Text Editor would be fine, but alas....not shortcuts for code.

If you want a nice simple text editor, try notepad++ (its a shareware program you can easily find a download) --- it does not display the HTML, but it will know how to color code the tags and things, it also knows PHP and javascript and a few other stuff. Does not run them, but fairly good simple editor. I like the way it can search through directories to find strings.

The mods seem tech savvy, they could probably help.

I've used HTML Kit, it seems to do a good job. Not a WYSIWYG type. It helps with inserting the proper HTML tags/codes. It's free, you can download it from Download.com

Uncheck the box that says Save as .txt.
Check Ignore rich text commands in HTML files

If you have no preference, this is the one I recommend you try. It is free and includes most of the really useful features.

But you must make sure you don't save the file as a .txt. Notepad automatically adds the .txt extension to the filename. A browser will not be able to read a .txt file. It expects a .html file extension. To avoid this, in the "Save as type" box at the bottom of the Save dialog box, select "All Files", and add the .html extension to the filename yourself. - Notepad++ Free
I have not used this, but I know many people who love it.

This is shareware. You can download an evaluation copy for free. You only pay if you decide to keep it. This is my favorite editor. - Komodo Edit: Free (open source)
