    as i understand, black dog is a night-time apparition that fatigued, bleary-eyed drivers see, which they mistakenly swerve to miss, but unfortunately, go careening off the highway. sad for this driver; may have pushed himself beyond his physical limits and fallen asleep at the wheel.
