ok here is the situation as im hoping you guys can help me. i was in an accident in my truck due to equipment malfunction. i totaled out the tractor, it doesnt look good for the trailer either, after running across 3 ditches and 2 roads. i heard a loud pop or a bang and then my tractor veered hard to the left. i initially thought it was a steer tire, but im not 100% on that. i had had problems before with the steering and had turned it into the shop. the first time they said tie rod ends were out of adjustment and this was causing the steering to "pop". the second time they told me not to worry about it and didnt even bother looking at it. so the company said after the accident that i was going to go to the house pending the investigation. this was on a friday afternoonl. i get on a bus back to the house and get home sat afternoon. monday afternoon safety called and said the steer didnt blow prior to accident and they were not going to investigate the truck further...the accident is being ruled due to driver error and is considered a critical crash so i was terminated. im planning on disputing their findings on this wreck. something went wrong and i know it did, i didnt cut the wheel to the left to see what the ride would be like. this is the only accident or ticket on my record in 6 years. also i was not cited or drug tested as i was told this was not a DOT preventable and i didnt need a DT. so any one know of any decent companies out there i can apply for i live just south of I70 inbetween Indianapolis and Dayton. anything van or reefer is fine. i appreciate everyones help in advance.

I thought any time a vehicle had to be towed from the scene it was a DOT reportable. Glad you weren't hurt.

I thought that too, Who was the company? What was the mileage on the truck? You may want to get some pictures of the truck? I know you are home now but I would if you could. There are plenty of companies that will take you with an accident. I wish you luck.

Did the truck happen to be a peterbilt 387. I had one once that popped everytime you turned the steering wheel , if you had a very heavy load at all. Shop said don't worry about it, it was a flaw from the manufacturers, but it sure got bad before they finally gave me another truck.

Not to be rude or anything, but you said that you crosses two roads, and multiple ditches?
That is gonna warrant a DOT officer to show up.
That is than gonna warrant a UA visit within the prescribed amount of time.
It smells a lot fishy to me, just saying. I think there is a lot more to this "story" than is being told here.

the company was maverick. im about 8hrs away and with no job i dont really have the money to drive over to the truck. i took a couple pics but just where the truck came to a rest at nothing detailed. it was a 12 cascadia with about 48k miles on it. like i said the steering was making noises and the second time i said anything about it they told me not to worry about it and didnt bother looking at it. they told me since i didnt ride to the hospital in a bandaid box and no one or no other vehicles were involved, and since no citation was issued it was not dot reportable just a critical crash. i know there are plenty of companies out there that will hire with an accident but can anyone help point me in the right direction? im trying to stay away from pam, crst, cr england, usa truck...ect companies i really cant afford to get out there for less that 36 or 38cpm.

An inspection of the truck would show that if anything happened. With one year out here plus a bad wreck like that, you better go with whoever will take you at this point. I'm not being a smart guy about it but that's the way it is. You don't have the option to be picky. They do. Try those companies or a smaller operation that will be willing to take the chance on you if you want to continue driving.
