How do they get the motors to hold together turnin that kid of RPM? Seems like the valvetrain would come apart, and the rods would make their way outside the block, Alot of weight to be swingin around that fast. What are they turnin anyway3-4k rpm? Surely impressive though

I'm sure they are well above 3000, but not quite to 4000 yet, most likely all have had valve spring upgrades. You would be surprised at what the rotating assembly will take though.

I think the CAT is running very strong. The old man had to back out of the throttle to keep it in bounds, otherwise it would have been a lot closerRig Wrench and black_dog106 Thank this. -
Ya i noticed that in the video... either way that Peterbuilt definately will make things interesting. Did Jerry Ray build that motor through PDI or a more local shop?
-
Great Lakes! LOL J/K!! I'm sure Jerry built it himself although I've never seen him with his hands dirty.
-

PDI supplied a stock C-16 long block that they had built for dyno testing that was minus the injectors, turbo, camshaft, ECM, exhaust manifold and numerous other parts. The engine has numerous dyno runs on it both before and after Jerry Ray got it. The engine hasn't been apart after all of this dyno testing, it went straight into the truck.
Yes, I know what the Hp and torque numbers are, but have been asked not to divulge the info -
He gets his hands dirty. He actually is very good at get himself completely covered in dirt and grease when he's working on it or anything else........kinda reminds me of Pig Pen from The Peanuts by the end of the day.
Now when it came to getting his hands covered in hot engine oil while doing injector swaps during the dyno testing........I was the one with the burnt finger tips. -
NNNEEEVVVEERRR!!!!!!!!!
Did you notice the Freightshaker and how it was spinning the tires hard off the line..........long wheelbase trucks don't make good pulling trucks.
