aright thanks for the info man it sounds like you guys are doing really well there and yes i will be a first steat driver. i can't wait to get going i doint mind being in a truck but if i am on the road i want to be able to do what i want to to it. i worked for crete carrier and they have the opti idle on there trucks so not only did it come on and off all night long but in the middle of the day you go into get a shower and come back out you truck has shut off and now its 84 in the truck even though your temp is set to 74 that is most of the reason i quit them that and no miles...
well thanks for the post keep em coming i love the possetive words makes me feel like i am heading into a good thing and making the right decision as far as coming on with prime:biggrin_255:

This site has helped me a great deal, as someone just starting out (school 11-3-07 if I get new glasses & b/p down) I would like to go to prime. Why? The training!!! I've worked in factorys most of my life and I know the benifits of good training, Too bad (MOST) management does'nt see it that way.Have You ever been turned around to go back to the place you picked up because the shipment is bad product, they might not tell the driver that! Some jobs you can train in a minute (assembly line 10 yrs ago moved from line 2 to line 1; team leader grabbed 9 self tapping bolts put them in;gone!! I did see him again ;took another 5 minutes) Myself I would rather be trained for too long than not long enough. ie (sfiwt trainer 6 mos on the road! Training, no winter up north!) I don't think I could sleep.

rdmstrg.....Prime has their own school....that's how I trained my wife. I became a trainer.......took her with me for 6 weeks.....she had to log at least 100 driving hours before she could take her CDL Driving test.....also had to be able to pass the Pre-Trip and the Basic Skills test(Parking/Backing). She said it was the toughest tests that she had ever had to take.....and she spent 8.5 yrs in the Army! She said there was more stress involved in this than any Promotion Board she every went to! If you're interested........I'd be glad to talk to you more about it. And that offer goes out to everybody. Because a person needs to be informed before they decide to change their whole lifestyle. This kind of work isn't for everybody.....I know it wasn't for me 14 years ago......but, I went home....watched my kids grow up.....then came back to it....AND brought Momma with me!!! That's the best part.....spending every day with the woman I married almost 27 years ago! What could be better?

Steve you can tell by the tone from your message that your truly enjoying life. I'm in a similar boat, I'm teaming with my son for a couple years he's in training with Prime right now and he wants to go the lease route down the road after he has a year under his belt. I'm going to still team with him for another year so as a company driver for Prime so I get the health benefits, I still have a small residual retirement coming in but no health benefits. Many people don't know that one family member can be the lease operator and the other be a company employee to get the benefits. Their not cheap but when you have a health issue like us their cheap.

After 2 years Momma will get rid of the house we don't need a 3 bedroom 2 bath house for her and I. We can get something smaller and less expensive each month to come home to. Then she can come on the road with me unfortunately she's type 1 diabetic so she can't drive but we'll be together again, we've been married 26 years coming up January.

Good luck and keep on posting here it's encouraging.

Thanks, Vulcan....We were talking about our situation the other day while we were exploring Donner Pass, in California. There is a trail that runs the length of the Sierra Mountains.....runs right through the Rest Area at the Donner Pass summit. It's beautiful! Small lakes, LARGE boulders, wildlife....all right on the side of the Interstate! And, 98% of the drivers that pass through there will never go past the bathroom.......That's the sad part. But, we got to share it, Lo & I, along with several other beautiful places this trip......Like I told her....."This is why I wanted you to come out here with me!" Yeah, the money is gonna be great.....but, having her with me means more than any amount of green.

On our way to London, KY this am......got a little short run....well, about 750 mi.......that will get us close to home.....and we're taking 4 days off to celebrate our baby's 21st birthday!! And, I get to go cut wood for my uncle....and hang with my dad and a few of my cousins for a couple days......been waiting all year for this weekend! Nothing is better than time with family.....we need to enjoy every minute we can...they pass by so fast. Oh, for 720 mi.....$1233 overnite. Hope everybody has a good rest of the week.....be careful....be safe.

Our family had a houseboat there in London on Laurel Lake for years, the wife and I grew up in Northern KY. Pretty area. Yeah trucking can have it's good times if people want to find those good times as you and Lo did with the trail. My son and I will get to do those things for a year or two then I'll get to do them with the misses. I'm looking forward to it. My boys in Colorado, he is fascinated on how pretty it is.

today i turned in my aplication to go get leased on with prime i am excited. i hope that i get on with them and in the next 2 weeks i can be in a truck and on my way. i will be going in a first seat driver but this will be m first time as an owner/lease operator. but i think i should do alright i am worried about fuel prices but i think it should be o.k i have no other payments to make othert than a cell phone and the payment related to the truck so i will be o.k . i am going to piuck up my gal and she is going to go back on the raod with me. the first thing i am going to do is put a fridge and a microwave in my truck. for some reason when you are ful of some o.k food being stranded away from home doesn't seem so bad. and if you are full and with a woman you love then it really isn't bad....

anyone have a min pin i am looking at getting a little dog like that i already have a black lab but am looking for a tiny guy to ride with me i am going to name him deisel:biggrin_255:
i will keep you guys upated on my progress with the app process

Wolf.....I think I would have been thanking those Bama fans.....for their team's generosity!!! LOL Didn't get to watch the game....but, my son-in-law told me that Bama should have won that one....and he's a Vandy fan. I know that the Vols should have lost to SC last week, but it didn't happen that way......that's one of the great things about the SEC....Anyone can beat just about any of the other teams on a given weekend.....Bad thing is....most of the time, when they do get beat.....they get knocked out of the Top 10!
